摘要： There is described an image forming apparatus, in which the influence of the overall controlling section startup time is reduced, thereby cutting down the time from turning on of power to enabling of image formation. The image forming apparatus includes: a main power switch to turn ON/OFF an AC power source to be supplied into the image forming apparatus; a DC power current generating section to convert AC power current, fed from the AC power source, to DC power current; an overall-controlling section to control overall operations of the image forming apparatus; an engine-controlling section to conduct a predetermined controlling operation among from controlling operations to be conducted in the image forming apparatus; a first power-controlling section, included in the overall-controlling section and/or controlled by the overall-controlling section; and a second power-controlling section, having a starting time shorter than that of the first power-controlling section.

摘要： In a fixing device of an image forming apparatus including a heating roller and a temperature detecting device spaced apart from the roller, having a first sensor for detecting the surface temperature of the roller, and a second sensor for detecting the ambient temperature, the first sensor being placed at a first position in a casing having an opening through which the heat radiation of the roller is directly incident and the second sensor being enclosed by the casing and placed at a second position to which the heat radiation of the roller is not directly incident, the temperature is calculated on the basis of the outputs of the two sensors, and the opening is disposed so as not to enter a region between the vertical plane containing the central axis of the roller and a tangential plane to the circumferential surface of the roller parallel to the vertical plane.

摘要： There is described an operation panel, which is detachably or movably mounted onto an image-forming apparatus, and which includes a data-inputting section to input operational data necessary for operating the image-forming apparatus and/or a displaying section to display status information of the image-forming apparatus. The operation panel comprises: a circuit board, on which electronic parts are mounted; a supporting member to support the circuit board, the data-inputting section and/or the displaying section, so as to integrate them into a single unit serving as the operation panel; a signal line, through which electronic signals are communicated between the operation panel and the image-forming section; and a conductive member for directly grounding at least one of the data-inputting section, the displaying section and the circuit board to a conductive main-frame of the image-forming apparatus. The signal line and the conductive member are disposed at separate positions being different relative to each other.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a toner carrier, a toner image forming unit, and a toner concentration sensor. The toner carrier includes a transparent film. The toner image forming unit forms a toner image onto the toner carrier. The toner concentration sensor senses the concentration of toner on the toner carrier. The toner concentration sensor includes first and second light emitting elements and a light receiving element. The light emitting elements each radiate light directly or indirectly to the toner carrier. The light receiving element receives reflecting light originating from the light emitting elements. The first light emitting element radiates light having a wavelength of a predetermined reflectance resulting from direct radiation to the toner carrier. The second light emitting element radiates light having a wavelength that causes a lower reflectance resulting from direct radiation to the toner carrier than a reflectance resulting from radiation to the toner.
