    摘要: In an optical information recording medium to which a recording operation or reproducing operation of information is carried out by irradiating a laser beam, there are provided with two recording layers provided through a space layer. An absolute value of a change Δd of a film thickness of the space layer for every unit length in a circumferential direction is equal to or less than a predetermined value which is determined based on a wavelength of the laser beam, a refractive index of the space layer in the wavelength λ and one of a line velocity of the laser beam and the shortest pit length in a pit sequence recorded in each of the recording layers.

    摘要: A recording method of an information recording medium includes: (a) storing management information; (b) reading out the management information; and (c) recording. The information recording medium has two recording layers. A first recording layer is placed nearer to a source of a laser and a recording direction thereof is from the inner side to the outer side of the information recording medium. A recording direction of a second recording layer is from the outer side to the inner side. In the (a) storing, management information indicating a recording status of the information recording medium is recorded in a management information area of the information recording medium. In (b) reading out, the management information is read out from the management information area. In (c) recording, recording processing is performed by skipping a part of an area based on the management information.

    摘要: An optical disc medium includes a system area and a data area. The system area includes a recording operation test area to which a trial recording operation is carried out to determine an optimal record condition when data is recorded in the data area; a record control data area where data necessary to record user data on the data area is recorded; and a user data lead-in area necessary to reproduce the user data from the optical disc medium. Dummy data are recorded to a portion of the record control data area on a side of the user data lead-in area to prevent a track-out when the data area is accessed.

    摘要: The present invention provides a technique for improving reliability of reading header information. The optical disk is composed of a recording track. The recording track includes a data recording region in which recording pits are formed for recording data, and a header region in which pre-pits are formed for recording header information identifying said data recording region. Said recording pits have a reflectance smaller than that of a space in which said recording pits are not formed. Said recording pits and said pre-pits are formed so that an amplitude (dynamic range) of a level of an optical signal reflected from said header regions is larger than that of an optical signal reflected from said data recording regions.
