Abstract:
An adjustably sized laminar type telephone connector block suitable for interconnecting telephone subscriber pairs to telephone office switching equipment. The block comprises a plurality of superposed contact holding elements positioned between a pair of support elements, the support elements in turn having means for attachment to a main frame. The capacity of an individual block is varied by adding or removing contact holding elements. Each contact holding element includes pairs of interconnected quick clip contact elements of generally planar configuration which are separated from corresponding quick clip elements of adjacent contact holding elements by laterallly directed insulative flanges which overlie the quick clip contact elements, and which form strain relief means for conductors engaged upon the contact elements.
Abstract:
A telephone connector block having improved means for temporarily retaining the ends of individual subscriber pairs adjacent the open ends of quick-clip connectors prior to engagement therewith using an installation tool. This is accomplished by a strain relief means which engages an individual conductor as the same is bent to substantially a right angle relative to the axis of the opening in the adjacent quick clip terminal whereby upon bending the end of the conductor and the engagement of a short projection on the strain relief means, the conductor remains in desired position prior to full engagement with the quick-clip terminal.
Abstract:
A modular, high density cross-connect frame specifically adapted for central office application and forming a centralized distributing frame intended for patch and cross-connect circuits for digital equipment. The frame is dual-sided, with the patching and testing administration entirely on one side confined to an area readily manually and visually accessible to service personnel, with cross-connect administration confined to the opposite side. Internal connections are made using a vertically oriented cabling plane disposed between the two sides of the frame using a relatively few number of cables each having a large number of individual connectors which interconnect a first set of connector blocks with corresponding jack frame elements. A second plurality of connector blocks is disposed immediately opposite the jack frame elements, and relatively short length connectors are required to interconnect the jack frames with the second plurality of blocks. The result of this arrangement is high space utilization, permitting much higher numbers of individual circuits to be accommodated on a frame of given dimensions.
Abstract:
A high density front administered telephone protector block having three terminal connection surfaces disposed on three sides of the block. The block is mounted on an inner end by a rearwardly extending bracket. A first side surface mounts protector modules, an oppositely disposed second side surface mounts outside plant wire wrap pins for connecting subscriber pairs. A third outer end surface extends transversely past the side surface and mounts quick clip terminals for cross connections.
Abstract:
An improved testing and reporting system for individual telephone subscriber circuits providing improved fault location technology together with major reduction in subscriber loop maintenance and repair operating costs. Provision is made for the testing of lines too remote for direct testing by resort to distally located test units controlled from a central office.
Abstract:
A flexible resilient protective boot for shielding an engaged telephone subscriber plug and jack interconnection against moisture, vermin, insects and the like. The boot is suitable for installation by the subscriber without the use of tools and employing only ordinary skill. In each of the embodiments, the boot comprises a pair of separable members which are spreadable to enclose part of the plug structure, and resilient means engaging said separable members to maintain them in abutted relation.
Abstract:
An improved telephone building entrance terminal for use with subscriber-owned equipment. The terminal includes a partition housing including a splice chamber for reception of incoming cable pairs and a second chamber accommodating protector modules and a connector block. Separate covers are hingedly mounted to overlie the splice chamber and the protector and connector chambers. The covers are so arranged that movement of one cover to closed position serves to provide locking means for the other cover whereby only a single padlock is required to prevent unauthorized access to the interior of the housing.
Abstract:
A test shoe adapted to engage a discrete area on a telephone connector block normally mounted upon a telephone main frame for the purpose of interfacing with a plurality of individual subscriber circuits appearing on the block through protector modules. The shoe is configured to afford adequate clearance with respect to the projecting handles on the modules, the shoe being mounted in position by the engagement of a resiliently urged laterally moving latch released by push button means accessible from an outer surface of the shoe.
