Abstract:
A liquid filter, especially for oil of an internal combustion engine, with a bypass valve including a valve body 20 and a valve seat 21 integrated in an end plate 32 of the filter insert. A spring 22, which urges the bypass valve closed, is mounted in a support member 24 attached to the housing. Thus, parts of the bypass valve subject to wear and soiling can be replaced each time filter element 18 is replaced, and reliable operation of the bypass valve is assured throughout the life of the filter. The filter insert can be designed free of metal for easy disposability. The filter cartridge can also be used with known filter arrangements in which a permanent valve body is housed in the support member 24. When the filter element of the invention is used, this permanent valve body stays in the support member and functions as an intermediate piece 35, which transmits force between spring 22 and valve body 20. The valve function is assumed by new valve body 20 engaging valve seat 21.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fluid filter, such as an oil filter for an internal combustion engine, comprising a filter housing which can be closed by a screw lid, a filter element and a central, approximately tubular component which projects into the interior of the filter, whereby the central component has bearing surfaces which are used to fix said component into the filter, so that it cannot rotate. The central component and the filter housing have projections and corresponding undercuts which interact with the projections, in order to fix the central component using a detent or snap-fit connection. The invention is characterized in that the lid, the filter element and the central component can be connected to form a joint installation assembly which is easy to handle, whereby the central component is mounted so that it can be rotated about its longitudinal axis in relation to the lid and that guide elements are provided in the filter housing which interact with the bearing surfaces, in such a way that the latter form of rotational lock for the central component during the mounting of the installation assembly, before the central component is fixed by the detent or snap-fit connection, thus allowing said connection to take place.
Abstract:
A filter assembly includes housing enclosing a replaceable filter element. A support core is provided in the housing, and includes an extension and locking assembly. The element includes a ring of filtration media with a pair of end caps. The first end cap includes a central opening to receive the support core. The extension and locking assembly prevents the cover of the housing from being attached to the housing body without a proper filter element installed. The extension and locking assembly includes a bypass member and a locking member, which are in locking engagement when an element is absent in the housing. The second end cap includes internal protrusions which engage the locking member when the filter element is installed to disengage the bypass member from the support core, and allow the element to be inserted and the cover to be installed.
Abstract:
A liquid filter, suitable for the lubricating oil of an internal combustion engine, having a cartridge installation opening 15 which faces substantially downward, a positively guided oil drain 28 is proposed for draining oil from the filter when the filter cartridge is changed. The positive guidance is effected by a valve stem 29 which is connected directly or indirectly to the housing by a support tube 22. It opens a gasketed drain opening which can be connected to a hose 35 in order to assure drainage of oil, for example, to a separate oil collecting vessel. The drain opening is automatically opened by unscrewing the screw-on cover 11. No other drain plug or the like needs to be opened. This filter is especially suited for installation in confined spaces since the oil can be drained in a reliable manner.
Abstract:
A lubricating oil filter for internal combustion engines is disclosed herein. The oil filter includes a vertical housing closed at the top by a screw cover and includes a filter support rotatably mounted on the screw cover for removably supporting an annular filter element. The filter support includes a valve element at a bottom end thereof for closing an additional outlet port at the bottom of the housing when the cover and filter support are installed on the housing and for opening the additional outlet port when the cover and filter support are removed from the housing.
Abstract:
A device, system, and method for purifying a fluid is provided. The fluid purification device includes a tank, a cover and a release assembly. The tank having a hollow interior. The cover is sealingly coupled to the tank. The release assembly is pivotally coupled to the cover, the release assembly having a relief valve fluidly coupled to the hollow interior, the release assembly being movable between a first position and a second position, the relief valve being movable between an operating position, a released position and a non-operational position
Abstract:
An endcap bypass plug is disclosed. The endcap bypass plug includes a body and a plurality of leg members. The body includes an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer side surface joining the upper surface to the lower surface. A central axis extends through an axial center of the body. The plurality of leg members are connected to and extends away from the upper surface of the body. Adjacent leg members of the plurality of leg members are spaced apart by a distance to thereby form a plurality of radial passages defining a plurality of radial fluid-flow paths there between. Each leg member of the plurality of leg members includes: a head portion having an upper surface. The head portion includes a nose portion extending radially outwardly from the head portion. The nose portion includes a ramp surface and a lower surface. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the upper surface of the head portion to define an upper edge. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the lower surface of the nose portion to define a lower edge. An endcap assembly is also disclosed. A filter assembly is also disclosed. A method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A filter element for filtering liquids or gases, having a concentrically arranged filter medium with zigzag pleats. The filter medium is provided with end disks on its axial end faces, each end disk having an inside that is connected to the filter medium and an outside that faces away from the filter medium. At least a first end disk carries a valve element which is situated concentrically inside the filter medium. This valve element includes a valve seat which bulges outward above the plane of the outer side of the end disk. The valve element includes a valve body which cooperates with the valve seat and which is arranged on the first end disk so that it is axially movable and is inside of and surrounded by the filter medium.
Abstract:
A fuel filtration apparatus for use in an internal combustion engine comprises an interrupter valve in a flow path from an inlet port of a filter head to a compliant filter. The interrupter valve has an open state and a closed state. In the open state a protruding member of the filter depresses a bottom end of the valve and opens the flow path when the compliant filter is connected to the filter head. The interrupter valve also has a closed state wherein the flow path is closed in the absence of the protruding member of the filter (as with a non-compliant filter).
Abstract:
A filter element removeably located in a housing having a central valve structure. The element has an end cap with a valve actuating portion. The valve actuating portion includes a cylindrical portion and an annular base projecting radially inward from the cylindrical portion. The valve actuating portion includes a plurality of thin, flat keys spaced around the annular base and projecting radially inward from the cylindrical portion and axially outward from the base. The keys engage the valve structure in the housing when the element is installed, and open up a flow passage through the housing.
