    摘要: A filter system for an HVAC system includes a rectangular frame with a central opening. A conventional filter spans the central opening for interaction with the incoming forced air. A grid spans the filter on the incoming air side thereof, the grid presenting a plurality of horizontal and vertical spaced-apart strands having aromatic particles impregnated therein. Upon contact of the incoming forced air with the grid, the aromatic particles are transferred to the incoming air so as to scent the conditioned air. The period of material transfer of the scent particles to the incoming forced air preferably corresponds with the useful filter life, such that a cessation of delivery of the scented air is indicative to the user that the filter proper needs to be changed.

    摘要: A method of improving control of atmospheric emission of particulate matter from the emission stack of coal combustion facilities which employ baghouse particle controllers is disclosed. The method involves injecting upstream of the baghouse a small but effective amount of ammonia gas and sulfur trioxide. When this is done, the pressure drop across the baghouse is less and the amount of particulate matter in the smoke stack emissions is reduced by significant amounts.

    摘要: A phoretic enhanced-gravity particulate removal system (10) is provided for removing particulates and gaseous pollutants from a particulate laden gas. The particulate laden gas is initially brought into a housing (12) between a plurality of upper and lower planar members (20 and 22). The facing surfaces of the planar members (20 and 22) provide for a temperature gradient. The particulate laden gas is driven through a saturation zone in a gas flow channel (26) formed by the planar members (20 and 22). The particulates begin to nucleate and grow at a rapid rate due to supersaturation provided by the temperature gradient and the wetting of the facing surfaces of the planar members (20 and 22). The growth is rapid and causes the nucleating particulates to be driven in a path (58) towards a capturing mechanism (38) through phoretic and gravity forces. Increased nucleation rate and growth of the nucleating particles allow for a maximization of the amount of particulates captured and removed from the housing (12).

    摘要: This invention pertains to addition of polyisobutylene to a predominantly gaseous stream in a process for preventing the shearing of hydrocarbon droplets in the stream to aerosol sizes. It is difficult to remove droplets of aerosol sizes from gaseous streams with demisters, scrubbers, filters or the like. Generally, aerosol size droplets are created when a predominantly gaseous stream containing some liquid is passed at relatively high velocity through an orifice, valve, bend, tee, choke or the like, or subjected to compression by a turbine. The addition of polyisobutylene would improve the separation efficiency of the demisters, scrubbers, filters or the like. In addition, when the demister pads or compressor has its blades coated with polyisobutylene, drag on the droplets is reduced, resulting in less shearing of the droplets to aerosol sizes. This in turn would result in minimum dissemination of droplets and less wear on the compressor's blades.
