The system also includes a spray pump in fluid communication with the concentrated fluid containing the volatile organic compounds such that the spray pump dispenses the concentrated fluid at a reduced dosage per pump stroke. The combination of the concentrated fluid containing volatile organic compounds and the reduced dosage per pump stroke reduces the emission of volatile organic compounds, while the quantity of actives applied per square area of application surface substantially remains the same.

A liquid dispenser comprising a dispenser body, a check valve, a pressure regulating valve, and a pump piston. The dispenser body has a generally cylindric inner surface defining at least part of a pump chamber, an intake port for fluid communication with a source of liquid, an intake liquid flow path providing fluid communication between the intake port and pump chamber, a discharge port, and a discharge liquid flow path providing fluid communication between the pump chamber and discharge port. The check valve checks fluid flow from the pump chamber to the intake port. The pump piston has a head at its inner end reciprocally slidable within and in sealing engagement with the pump chamber between first and second positions. A vent passageway is defined at least in part by both the dispenser body and pump piston for venting air from the fluid receiving cavity. The dispenser body and pump piston are shaped and configured for opening the vent passageway when the pump piston is in its second position and for blocking the vent passageway when the pump piston is in its first position. When air is in the fluid receiving cavity, movement of the pump piston from its first position to its second position opens the vent passageway to permit air to vent therethrough and prime the pump.

An improved manually actuated pump is disclosed for dispensing a volume of liquid from a container, comprising a body having a duct with a duct conduit communicating with the body. A piston is disposed within the body for slidably sealing with the duct to define a pump chamber with at least a portion of the piston being disposed external to the body defining a piston stem having a stem passage extending therethrough. A spring biases the piston into an extended position. An induction tube is received within the duct conduit for providing fluid communication between the liquid within the container and the pump chamber. A first one-way valve enables the flow of the liquid only from the container into the pump chamber whereas a second one-way valve enables the flow of the liquid only from the pump chamber into the stem passage. An actuator having a terminal orifice communicates with the stem passage for discharging a volume of the liquid from the container through the terminal orifice upon a longitudinal movement of the actuator from the extended position to a retracted position by an operator.

The closing system is formed by an obturator which forms part of a component made of an elastically deformable material and a seat which forms part of another component of the dispensing head. The obturator is in contact with its associated seat in the absence of any dispensing action, moving away from the seat by elastic deformation under the pressure of the product to be dispensed, and returning by elasticity into contact with the seat when the dispensing stops. The obturator is subjected to the action of a constraining element tending to keep it applied to the seat wherewith it cooperates.
