    摘要: Discharge device for discharging liquid steel into a roller crystallizer for the continuous casting of thin strip capable of reducing turbulence at the meniscus to a minimum so as to eliminate the relative defects on the cast strip by passing the steel between two crystallizer rollers. A relative casting process is also described, said process providing for particular expedients for improving the steel feeding from the tundish to the crystallizer. Advantageously, the feeding of guided steel jet streams inside the nozzle, or delivery nozzle, eliminates the disturbance at the meniscus caused by the air bubbles which form when free-falling jet streams come into contact with the air, as occurs in the known devices and plants.

The side walls forming the bottom part may have generally flat exterior surfaces throughout and meet at an acute angle to form a discrete edge along the nozzle body, or alternatively, convex curved external surfaces meeting at the bottom extremity in an arcuate shape along the nozzle body.

    摘要: A casting system for pouring nonferrous metal molten masses, in particular copper or copper alloys, has a tundish and a submerged pipe feeding into a molten bath inside a thin-slab mold. Trouble-free discharge of the melt into the mold and degassing at the exposed surface of the mold is ensured. The submerged pipe leading from the tundish along a pre-defined pouring angle has first and second sections. The latter is a tip nozzle that submerses into the molten bath. It has at its wall facing the mold bottom one or more discharge openings effecting a change in the flow direction of the molten mass. A lip at the tip nozzle is spaced so as to overlap the discharge opening, to cause a second flow direction change and lateral distribution. The discharge opening and the lip are disposed inside the mold bath, below a bath surface, during operation.

The end dams are preferably actuated using a programmable controller and a stepper motor that is responsive to the signals of the programmable controller. The stepper motor is preferably connected to the end dam via flex connector and a connecting guide rod directed through a guide tube.

    摘要: Disclosed is an improved casting tip for a nozzle of a continuous caster, the tip designed for transferring molten metal from a molten metal reservoir to a continuously advancing mold as formed, for example, by twin belts, rolls or block casters for casting molten metal into solid form. The casting tip is comprised of a top wall, a bottom wall oppositely disposed from the top wall, a first side wall, and a second side wall oppositely disposed from the first side wall, the first and second side walls joined to the top and bottom walls to form a passage therebetween having an entrance and an exit. The passage has a top wall inside surface having a first portion that first converges towards the bottom wall starting at the entrance and has a second portion that diverges from the bottom wall to the exit, the top wall first portion having a length less than the top wall second portion length. Further, the passage has a bottom wall inside surface having a first portion that first converges towards the top wall starting at the entrance and has a second portion that diverges from the top wall to the exit, the bottom wall first portion having a length less than the bottom wall second portion length. The top wall and bottom wall converge and diverge about substantially an equal amount from a center line from the entrance to the exit of the passage.
