    摘要: Apparatus for transmitting torque from the engine to the variable-speed transmission of a motor vehicle has a primary flywheel which is connectable to the crankshaft of an engine, a secondary flywheel which is coaxial with and is rotatable relative to the primary flywheel against the opposition of one or more dampers and is connectable to the input shaft of a transmission by the clutch plate of a friction clutch having a cover which is permanently separably affixed to the secondary flywheel. An antifriction bearing between the two flywheels is located at least in part radially inwardly of fasteners which extend through holes in the first flywheel to separably connect the first flywheel to the crankshaft. At least one race of the at least one bearing is or can be integral with one of the flywheels.

    摘要: A flywheel system including a rotor shaft. The rotor shaft includes an inner passage therethrough, and a dam with a central opening disposed on a first end of the inner passage. An outer passage surrounds the inner passage. The inner passage is open at a second end, and the outer passage is closed on an end surrounding the second end of the inner passage. The outer passage is open on an end surrounding the first end of the inner passage. Fluid flows into the inner passage at the first end, via the central opening of the dam. Rotation of the flywheel rotor causes the fluid to accumulate along a wall of the inner passage, and to propagate to the second end, where the fluid exits into the outer passage. The fluid propagates along the outer passage to the open end of the outer passage, where it is released.

    摘要: A flywheel for use in an automobile between an engine and a clutch assembly is provided. The flywheel is a circular member having an engine side and an opposite clutch side. An aperture is formed in the circular member having an axis, and the aperture is used to operatively attach the flywheel to the engine. A plurality of clutch fins and/or grooves are formed on the clutch side adjacent the outer edge of the circular member and spaced radially about the axis of the aperture of the flywheel. The clutch fins have a face that is generally coplanar with the clutch side of the circular member. The fins and grooves work to cool the internal components of the engine. Optionally, a second set of grooves and fins may be formed on the engine side of the flywheel to further aid in cooling the clutch disc and other engine components.

    摘要: A flywheel/motor assembly is disclosed that comprises a motor housing having a sidewall and an end wall extending substantially perpendicularly from the sidewall. The end wall enclose a motor assembly having a rotatable shaft extending therefrom. The motor housing has at least one air flow opening therethrough. A flywheel is coupled to the shaft, and includes a pulley side and a motor side opposite the pulley side, wherein the motor side is aligned substantially with the end wall and does not extend over the sidewall. A plurality of vanes are associated with the flywheel, wherein adjacent vanes form channels therebetween. A ring is coupled to the plurality of vanes and at least partially encloses the channels and forms exhaust ports away from the shaft. Rotation of the flywheel draws air through the motor housing's openings into the channels and out the exhaust ports. The pulley side may include balancing bores for receiving balancing material to balance the finished assembly. An angular interference fit between the flywheel and motor shaft may also assist in balancing the finished assembly. A ventilation fan system may also be connected to the shaft at an end opposite the flywheel.

The composite damper has two dampers which operate in series and a friction generating device which operates between one of the dampers and one of the flywheels. One of the flywheels has an axial projection which centers a flange of the composite damper.
