摘要: A primary technical goal of a mechanical seal device of the present invention is to decrease assembly cost thereof as well as machining cost thereof and to prevent wear of seal surfaces by preventing occurrence of squealing noises of the seal surfaces. The mechanical seal device comprises a first seal ring which is one of a pair of seal rings and disposes an engagement portion at the outer circumferential surface, a retainer ring which has a first support portion supporting an inner diameter surface of the first seal ring and a second support portion engaging the engagement portion and is fixed with either a seal housing or a shaft, and a gasket which joins the retainer ring and the first seal ring in a sealing manner, wherein an engagement clearance (C) formed in a rotational direction between the engagement portion and the second support portion is within 0.5 mm.

摘要: A seal for sealing a low pressure area from a high pressure area for containing a process fluid. The high pressure area is located along a rotatable shaft extending from a machine body. The seal includes an outboard seal positioned along the shaft, and an inboard seal axially spaced along the shaft from the outboard seal. An annular chamber is defined between the inboard seal and the outboard seal for containing a buffer fluid. The inboard seal includes a stationary assembly attached to the machine body. The stationary assembly includes a stationary seal ring having a stationary sealing face, and a first secondary seal between the stationary seal ring and the housing. The inboard seal further includes a rotating assembly attached to the shaft. The rotating assembly includes a rotating seal ring having a rotating sealing face in sealing relation with the stationary sealing face and a second secondary seal between the rotating seal ring and the shaft. The first and second secondary seals define fluid pressure barriers for causing axial movement of at least a portion of the stationary assembly and maintaining the sealing relation of the rotating and stationary sealing faces when the pressure of the buffer fluid is less than the pressure of the process fluid.

The seal head assembly includes an elastomer boot, a spring seat, a ferrule and a spring all disposed around a seal washer. The seal seat assembly includes a ceramic radial seal seat disposed within an elastomer boot member. The seal washer is in constant contact with the seal seat assembly to prevent leakage of any fluid between and around the shaft member.

摘要: There is disclosed a rotary air-riding seal between a first structure and an adjacent second structure, including: first and second seal members defining respective seal surfaces facing to one another. The first seal member is provided on the first structure and the second seal member is mounted to the second structure towards the first seal member. At least one of said seal members is configured to generate a riding film of air between said seal surfaces. One of said seal members is supported for axial oscillation relative to the other seal member by a secondary support arrangement configured to bias said seal member towards the other seal member. The said secondary support arrangement accommodates relatively high frequency axial movements between the seal members.

摘要: An improved air-riding seal system for turbine engines is presented. The seal system includes a movable primary seal assembly, a stationary secondary seal assembly, and at least one structure to increase the stiffness of a thin film between the primary seal and a rotating component. The primary seal assembly includes an annular seal ring and an arcuate support arm. The annular seal ring has a cross section that is substantially L-shaped and a surface with a step face and a circumferential dam. The arcuate support arm has a tooth at one end adjacent to an outermost circumferential surface along the seal runner, which could include an optional notch. The tooth and outermost circumferential surface are separated by a gap. The secondary seal ring is disposed between and contacts the primary seal assembly and housing structure so as to form a bore seal and a face seal therewith. A plurality of hydrodynamic pockets disposed along the circumferential dam and/or a plurality of radial dams disposed along the surface in an outward radial arrangement from the circumferential dam are provided to improve the stiffness of the thin film. Features of the invention allow for higher operating speeds.

摘要: An improved air-riding seal system for turbine engines is presented. 摘要: A non-contact-type mechanical seal that keeps a rotary seal ring 6 from vibrating in what is called a pneumatic hammer fashion. For this purpose, an annular space 23 is formed between an outer circumferential surface 21a of the rotary seal ring 6 and an inner circumferential surface 13a of a holder portion 13 of a spring retainer 5. The annular space 23 is sealed by a pair of O rings 22, 22. In addition, seal gas leading passages 24 are provided in the rotary seal ring 6 through which spaces between seal end faces 3a, 6a communicate with the annular space 23. Seal gas 8 is supplied to static pressure generating grooves 15, and led into the annular space 23 through seal gas leading passages 24. The seal gas presses O rings 22, 22 against the outer circumferential surfaces of the rotary seal ring 6 and the inner circumferential surface of the holder portion 13 of the spring retainer 5, thereby firmly holding the rotary seal ring 6.

摘要: An improved mechanical seal assembly is provided for sealing rotating shafts with respect to their shaft housings, wherein the rotating shafts are subject to substantial axial vibrations. The mechanical seal assembly generally includes a rotating sealing ring fixed to the shaft, a non-rotating sealing ring adjacent to and in close contact with the rotating sealing ring for forming an annular seal about the shaft, and a mechanical diode element that applies a biasing force to the non-rotating sealing ring by means of hemispherical joint. The alignment of the mechanical diode with respect to the sealing rings is maintained by a series of linear bearings positioned axially along a desired length of the mechanical diode. Alternative embodiments include mechanical or hydraulic amplification components for amplifying axial displacement of the non-rotating sealing ring and transfering it to the mechanical diode.
