The valve comprises a rotatable valve closure member (14) and a pneumatically activated sealing mechanism containing a pair of resiliently deformable structures (18,20) extending around a surface of the rotatable valve closure member when the latter is in its closed position, the pair of resiliently deformable structures being held in a pair of annular recesses (32,34) which also extend around an surface of the rotatable valve closure member in its closed position, wherein the pair of resiliently deformable structures are capable of being pneumatically activated to force a sealing ring (26) against the rotatable valve closure member.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling fluid flow with a quarter-turn ball valve with seats operated to lift off the sealing surface of the ball valve prior to ball rotation and to reseat upon completion of the ball rotation. One embodiment shown relates to a quarter-turn ball valve having a rotatable cam with an eccentric camming disk that engages a cam pocket in the ball seats to reciprocally lift off the sealing surface of the ball valve prior to ball rotation and to reseat upon completion of the ball rotation. An embodiment is also shown that provides filler pieces that restrict that flow around the ball valve whenever the ball seats are lifted off the surface of the ball valve.

    摘要: A low-drag seal arrangement for a thermal management valve including a housing having a chamber and at least one bore for flowing a fluid medium through the at least one bore between a location exterior of the housing and the chamber of the housing. A rotor is configured to rotate within the chamber of the housing relative to the bore. The rotor moves between a closed position where the flow of fluid medium through the at least one bore is blocked, an open position where the fluid medium flows through the at least one bore and an intermediate position where the flow of fluid medium through the at least one bore is partially restricted by the rotor's position relative to the bore. The low-drag seal arrangement also includes a face seal piston positioned within the at least one bore and configured to move axially within the bore.

    摘要: The invention relates to a valve assembly which includes at least one, but typically two, balls located along a passage and which balls can be moved between open and closed positions to selectively control the passage of fluid along the passage. The valve assembly includes at at least one end thereof a retaining assembly which allows the effective sealing against one surface of a ball and retention of the same in position. A sealing assembly is also provided when two balls are provided, intermediate the same, which allows effective sealing to be achieved and at least one of the two trunnions which allows each of the balls to be mounted within the valve body is located only internally of the valve body. The components of the valve assembly which are located within the same can in one embodiment all be inserted into and located within the valve body from one common end.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a bellow for use in a ball valve, the bellow comprising: a metallic seat at an end of the bellow for providing a contact surface with a ball of a ball valve; and a metallic body integral with the seat; wherein the metallic body has a longitudinally elastic property such that, when the bellow is in use in a ball valve and the bellow is arranged within the housing of the ball valve so that it is always under longitudinal compression, substantially only the compression in the bellow causes the seat to apply a sealing force against the ball of the ball valve that maintains a mechanical seal between the seat and the ball valve. Advantageously, embodiments allow a new design of ball valve that maintains a high standard of performance in subsea environments over long time periods.
