Abstract:
In the specification and drawings, a valve is described and shown having a first and second valve seat carrier, a valve seat associated with each valve seat carrier, and a valve ball between the valve seats. The valve further includes a stop mechanism operatively connected to at least a first valve seat, the stop mechanism limiting travel of the first valve seat towards the valve ball such that the valve ball may be push away from a sealing engagement with the first valve seat.
Abstract:
A self-contained respiratory protection system is disclosed. The system includes a center module attachable to one or more cylinders of air, gas or oxygen. A plurality of filters is mountable on the center module. A blower motor also may be mounted on the center module. A hose attaches to a cylinder to provide air to an operator or draws filtered air via the filters on the center module. A first stage regulator converts the air in the cylinder to breathable air for the operator. A second stage regulator transitions between filter mode and supplied air. The system may fit within a backpack.
Abstract:
A method for repairing a damaged or corroded tong jaw having a jaw root and an original seating component. The method includes the steps of: (a) machining away corroded or damaged portions of the original seating component; (b) machining into a non-damaged portion of the original seating component and/or jaw root, thereby forming a machined base configured to receive a new seating component, the new seating component including a feature adapted for engaging the machined base. The new seating component is then connected onto the machined base.
Abstract:
An improved snubbing unit including a snubbing unit base, a lifting assembly having a platform positioned above the base, a rotary table positioned on the snubbing unit, and a first slip assembly positioned on the rotary table. The first slip assembly further includes a base plate with a center aperture formed therein, at least two separate slip frames positioned on the base plate around the center aperture, wherein each of the slip frames includes a slip surface, and a die carrier positioned within each of the slip frames, wherein each of the die carriers also includes a surface for engagement with the slip surfaces of said slip frames. Additionally, a second slip assembly will be positioned on the snubbing unit.
Abstract:
A flanged washer spring is provided, comprising a first disk having a central opening, outer periphery, a first side and a second side, the first disk further having an annular inner flange extending axially from the first side, and an annular outer flange extending axially from the second side, wherein a radial distance from the outer flange to the central opening is greater than a radial distance from the inner flange to the central opening. The disks are normally used in pairs with the outer flanges of the disks positioned axially adjacent to each other. The springs may be used in combination with a tool, such as a drilling accelerator or jar, having an elongated tubular body having a body stop for axially retaining a spring, and an elongated mandrel slidingly mounted within the tubular body, the mandrel having a mandrel stop for axially retaining a spring, the spring comprising a plurality of stacked disks.
Abstract:
Apparatus for controlling the torque delivered to pipe connections by power tongs by utilizing the reaction torque to cause a proportional fluid by-pass to be bled from the drive motor fluid power supply to slow the motor as torque increases, and to stop the motor at some preselected torque quantity. The torque is maintained as long as the operator provides fluid power to the motor circuit to overcome brief torque resistances due to such as pipe wobble.

Abstract:
An improved slip assembly having a base and at least two opposing slip frames positioned on the base with each of the slip frames including a planar slip surface. Additionally, a die is carrier positioned within each of the slip frames and each of the die carriers also includes a planar surface which engages the slip surfaces of the slip frames. The improved slip assembly also includes a low friction slip assembly having a base and at least two opposing slip frames positioned on the base. Each of the slip frames will include a slip surface having an effective coefficient of friction less than about 0.07 and die carriers will be position within each of the slip frames.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved power tong jaw having a jaw body with a roller aperture formed therein. A jaw roller is positioned in said roller aperture by some type of retaining surface, such as a roller pin. Additionally, a friction reducing surface is formed between the jaw roller and the jaw pin. In one embodiment, this friction reducing surface comprises a plurality of needle bearings. In alternate embodiments, the friction reducing surface comprises ball bearings, journal bearings, or recirculating ball bearings.
