    摘要: A solar heat collector built about a new collector matrix formed from flexible sheet material, such as metallic foil. The matrix presented by the foil is folded into an accordion shape to form a series of linear channels to trap solar energy. The absorbed energy is transferred to air flowing through the channels. Proper support for the expended collector matrix is provided by taut lines stretched across a supporting frame and engaged with the folded flexible sheet. Inner and outer circulation channels are provided to permit air circulation by natural heating currents. The folded sheet and lines are constructed in kit form for expansion and support at the location of use. Transverse spacers might be included between pleats.

    摘要: A solar heat energy collector device is disclosed wherein the sun's rays strike a collector located in an insulated enclosure. The heat energy from the sun is transferred to this collector. Also forming part of the collector are conduits which contain a fluid which absorbs the heat from the collector. The heated fluid is circulated outside of the device to a remote point for utilization in any desired manner. The collector is constructed so as to be able to absorb not only the sun's rays which directly strike it but also to absorb a portion of the rays which are reflected from the collector after directly striking it. This is accomplished by providing a collector formed in the shape of a plurality of adjoining tubes each having a longitudinally extending opening therein to permit the sun's rays to strike the interior of the tubes and be captured therein in addition to striking the exterior of the tubes.

    摘要: My invention relates to a unique apparatus for the utilization of solar heat which incorporates a hexagonal shaped collector element, which achieves maximum heat utilization in conjunction with a heat pipe for transfer of the heat collected by the element. Various minor modifications can be made to the heat collector element and/or the heat transfer pipe without departing from the spirit or the scope of the invention. Basically, however, it is the hexagonal shaped heat collector element with the heat transfer pipe passing therethrough at substantially the optimum position so that maximum heat transfer occurs from the heat collector element to the pipe within each individual element. The entire apparatus can be adjusted for optimum sun angle, depending upon the hemisphere or latitude of use, and extremely efficient heat transfer and use of solar energy is possible.

    摘要: A solar furnace heating system is disclosed which is characterized by the provision of novel rotary vane-type heat collector elements arranged in a heat collecting chamber beneath the generally vertical transparent wall of a housing. The fluid to be heated is conveyed across the heat collecting chamber in heat-transfer relationship with the rotary heat collector elements, and then to a heat storage chamber contained in the bottom portion of the housing. After the temperature of the fluid in the heat storage chamber reaches a given value, heated fluid from the heat storage chamber may be conveyed, upon demand, to the enclosure to be heated. In one embodiment, the heat collector elements are mounted for free rotation in the housing by the fluid that is conveyed through the heat collecting chamber. In a second embodiment, means are provided for rotatably driving the heat collector elements in synchronism.

    摘要: A solar heat collector is formed by a unitary top plate having spaced apart downwardly extending tabs, a unitary bottom plate having spaced apart upwardly extending tabs, a frame holding the plates together in spaced apart relationship with the tabs intermeshed, and a backing plate held in the frame under the bottom plate. The upper surfaces of all plates and tabs are painted black to better absorb solar heat. Air is circulated between the heat collector and a porous heat storage unit to transfer heat from the collector to the storage unit, the tabs of the heat collector serving both as heat absorbent surfaces and as baffles to maximize heat transfer from the heat collector to the air stream. The tabs can be formed by making a plurality of H-shaped cuts in the top and bottom plates and then bending the inner margins of each H-shaped cut away from the plane of the corresponding plate to form two tabs. A looped water conduit can be mounted on staggered supporting panels within the heat storage unit, the staggered supporting panels acting as baffles to maximize air stream contact with the looped conduit to thus maximize heat transfer to the water therein.
