    摘要: A dual loudness meter and method for simultaneously indicating the apparent loudness of composite audio program material representing peak material or of persistent material employing a first detector means responsive to peak signals for instantaneously indicating the same as a singly actuated LED indicator in an array thereof displayed in accordance with the peak strength of the signal, a second detector for detecting the persistence of the signal and displaying the same as a bar graph on said LED display, the materials being colinearlly displayed and having dual upper extreme warning/operating indicator means separated by about 12 to 14 dB so that the meter is read as requiring adjustment of the associated recording or broadcast facilities to avoid having either of said programming indicator displays reading consistently in either warning/operating zone. Specific circuits and time constants of response and decay are given as appropriate to the simultaneous reading, dual meter system disclosed.

    摘要: System and apparatus for monitoring vibrational and other detected aspects of a machine. Transducer outputs are scanned through the use of a microprocessor, the memory components of which retain pre-determined set point information. The channel representing a given transducer output is displayed visually on the apparatus for 5 second intervals in combination with a linear form of disply showing monitored transducer values as well as set point values. In the event of detected threshhold level warnings or the like, additional visual indicators representing both system and channel status conditions are energized. The system includes a small, hand-held programmer by which any of a broad variety of functions may be readily entered into the memory of the processor through the simple manipulation of a single potentiometer. During the programming procedure, the values being inserted are displayed on the noted bar chart. Preferably, the chart is present as a linear array of 50 LEDs.

    摘要: An electrical indicator has a consecutive series of light-emitting diodes which are arranged along a straight or curved reference scale. A limited region of the series, comprising several diodes, is energized and this illuminated region is displaced along the scale upon change in an electrical input variable supplied to the indicator such that the position of the region provides an analogue indication of the value of the input variable. To improve the appearance of the display and reduce power consumption, the brightness of the region varies along its length with one or both of the outermost diodes being energized at lower levels than another of the diodes. The indicator may include a shift register having a number of storage locations, each for storing signals representative of a corresponding one of the light-emitting diodes, the signals at these locations being displaced in accordance with change in value of the input variable. Signals output from each storage location of the shift register are supplied to a gate which controls switching of a transistor that is connected in series with a resistor in the energizing circuit of each light-emitting diode. Each energizing circuit includes two such transistors and associated gates which control the degree of brightening of each light-emitting diode by switching one or more resistors in parallel in the circuit. The gates are connected to control brightening of one diode in accordance with brightening of one or more other diodes.

The light sources can be selectively energized by a rotary switch whose bank contacts are connectable via a changeover switch to either of two groups of light sources for positive or negative deviations from a reference position; the slit so illuminated serves as a pointer by coacting with a confronting scale graduation.

    摘要: A display instrument for aircraft wherein a representation of a data value is recorded and indicated by the position of an illuminated bar alongside a graduated scale. A number of bars are located along the scale, each bar being formed by the emitting end of a respective bundle of optical fibres. A particular bundle is illuminated to illuminate its bar according to a digital value stored in a counting register. This value is variable by the manual rotation of a knob driving an apertured disc so that each time a light beam passes through an aperture as the disc rotates, the beam is incident on an opto-electronic receiver, thus, providing a signal which changes the value stored in the counting register.

    摘要: This electronic voltmeter is particularly suited to develop volume unit output readings for appliance type electronic equipment. Seven operational amplifiers are used to selectively and separately energize seven light emitting diodes. Each of the operational amplifiers is provided a reference voltage. Additionally, each operational amplifier is supplied a voltage proportional to the peak voltage of the signal from the electronic equipment. The reference voltage and the voltage proportional to the peak signal from the equipment are compared by each operational amplifier. The operational amplifiers are sequentially switched as the level of the peak signal from the equipment increases. Six of the seven light emitting diodes are energized through transistors. The transistors coact with the operational amplifiers to extinguish all but one light emitting diode. Accordingly, only a single light emitting diode is energized at any time.

    摘要: This invention relates to a voltage level detector having a string of series coupled light emitting elements, such as light emitting diodes or low voltage lamps, as indicating devices. The light emitting diodes are series coupled to a constant current source. Parallel to each of the light emitting diodes is the emitter-collector path of a transistor connected. The base electrodes of the transistors are connected to the point with the voltage level to be detected through base resistors. When a transistor is in its conductive state the parallel coupled light emitting diode is by-passed and when a transistor is blocked current is diverted through the parallel coupled light emitting diode which then becomes lit. Since the transistors are series coupled and have their base electrodes connected to the same voltage level point the more the transistors become successively blocked and accordingly their parallel coupled light emitting diodes become successively lit the higher is the voltage between the collector of the end transistor and the voltage level point.

    摘要: A circuit tester for both 14-volt and 42-volt automotive electrical systems includes a housing with a probe tip at one end and a ground connector at the other end. A battery-powered voltage detection circuit in the housing includes a plurality of comparators, each having one input connected to an input signal from the probe tip and a reference input connected to a tap of a tapped voltage divider providing plural reference signals having amplitudes respectively corresponding to industry-standard voltage levels, the comparators being arranged in two groups respectively corresponding to 14-volt and 42-volt automotive systems. Series-connected LEDs have their cathodes respectively connected to the outputs of the comparators, and are arranged for respectively being viewed through apertures in the housing arranged in two separate rows. The interconnections are such that only one LED at a time is illuminated, i.e., the one corresponding to the highest reference signal level which is equaled or exceeded by the input signals.

The instrument compares a signal representing the variable with an adjustable set point to produce an output signal that reflects the deviation of the variable from the set point, the output signal being applied to a final control element such as a valve which governs the process variable. The front panel of the instrument includes a bar graph indicator for the process variable, a bar graph indicator for the set point and a bar graph indicator for the output signal, all three indicators being of the gas discharge type and being integrated into a single panel defining a sealed envelope filled with an ionizable gas and provided with electrodes. Also integrated into the panel are touch-sensitive switches and other control and indicating elements.
