Abstract:
An earpiece auditory device is described which includes a behind-the-ear component shaped to fit behind the ear of a user. The behind-the-ear component can also have at least one microphone and processing circuitry, where the processing circuitry is used to processes audio signal from the microphone. The device also includes a speaker sized to fit in the ear canal of a user, and an ear mold holding the speaker in place. The ear mold can also be position to touch the bony portion of the ear canal and provide sound attenuation in the ear canal. A connector physically and electrically connects the behind-the-ear component to the speaker. The connector is capable of being used to insert and remove the speaker and ear mold from the ear canal of the user.
Abstract:
Headsets with non-occluding earbuds are disclosed. The earbud includes a non-occluding housing having a directional sound port offset with respect to a center axis of the earbud. The housing can have an asymmetric shape amenable to in-the-ear retention. Additionally, the housing can have a seamless or nearly seamless construction even though two or more parts are joined together to form the housing. Front and back volumes can exist for a driver of the earbud, and embodiments of this invention use mid-mold and rear-mold structures to achieve desired performance from the earbud. For example, the mid-mold structure can be used to tune the front volume while the rear-mold structure can be used to tune the back volume. Apertures may also be included in the housing to further improve the performance of the earbud.
Abstract:
An eartip made of a resilient body with an eartip core inside the open center of the body, and a tether attached to the eartip core at an attachment region along the length of the core. A free end of the tether extends outward from the eartip, allowing a wearer to remove the eartip from their ear by pulling on the tether.
Abstract:
An ear pad for use with a headphone apparatus. The ear pad comprises a pad portion comprising an outer circumference and an inner circumference defining an opening. The pad portion comprises an upper width between the outer and inner circumferences along a vertical mid-line of the pad portion, a lower width between the outer and inner circumferences along the vertical mid-line of the pad portion, a left side width between the outer and inner circumferences along a horizontal mid-line of the pad portion, and a right side width between the outer and inner circumferences along the horizontal mid-line of the pad portion. The lower width of the pad portion is greater than at least one of the left and right side widths of the pad portion.

Abstract:
Virtual auditory display devices are described. An example virtual auditory display device comprises a first and a second ear-worn device, each of which include an acoustic package, an ear interface having multiple cavities, and an electronics package. The acoustic package may be positioned at least partially within the ear interface cavities and includes a housing, a connector including a set of annular electrical contacts, and one or more speakers positioned within the housing that are configured to emit sound based on signals received by the set of annular electrical contacts. The electronics package is removably coupleable to the acoustic package and includes a set of electrical connectors configured to connect with the set of annular electrical contacts and electronics configured to receive audio signals, generate the signals based on the audio signals, and provide the signals to the set of annular electrical contacts via the set of electrical connectors.
Abstract:
Earmuffs include a bowl-shaped housing base having a first engagement portion, an annular plate-shaped base plate having a second engagement portion on one side and a third engagement portion on the other side, and is integrated with the housing base by causing the second engagement portion to be engaged with the first engagement portion, and a pad portion that includes a pad fixed on one side and a pad base having a fourth engagement portion on the other side, and is integrated with the base plate by causing the fourth engagement portion to be engaged with the third engagement portion. The base plate has a groove portion adjacent to the third engagement portion and the pad base has a rib that enters the groove portion. The rib enters the groove portion and restricts an inclination of the third engagement portion involved with an engagement with the fourth engagement portion.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a modular earphone segment and method of manufacturing, the modular earphone segment housing an acoustic waveguide therein, the acoustic waveguide including between an inner end and an outer end a series of acoustic horns intercalated between a series of transition regions and the modular earphone segment including an acoustic seal module, a body module and an acoustic transmission module, the acoustic seal module being configured to be connected to the body module by releasably coupling means and the body module being configured to be connected to the acoustic transmission module by connecting means such that, when connected, the acoustic seal module, the body module and the acoustic transmission module are acoustically coupled.
Abstract:
A method for establishing a communication connection and related apparatuses are provided. The method is applicable to a first earphone of wireless earphones. The wireless earphones further include a second earphone. The first earphone is in communication connection with the terminal. The first earphone is in communication connection with the second earphone. The method includes the following. A first distance between the first earphone and the terminal is determined. A second distance between the second earphone and the terminal is determined. A first message is sent to the second earphone for instructing the second earphone to establish a communication connection with the terminal, when the first distance is greater than or equal to a first threshold value and the second distance is less than a second threshold value.
