    摘要: An improvement in a continuous flexible drive, preferably a chain, broaching machine in which a transmission, preferably a worm-worm gear speed reducer transmission is connected to a driving motor and to a sprocket, or a pair of sprockets, carried by a drive shaft which in turn is connected by chain means to a sprocket or a pair of sprockets on a shaft which drives the chain means of a chain broaching machine. The input unit including the transmission is designed in conformity with the drive end of the broaching machine to permit placement of input drive mechanism in different positions so as to provide freedom in placement of a plurality of broaching machines without interfering with each other.

    摘要: A broaching machine comprising a base and means on the base for supporting a workpiece rotatably and indexing the workpiece about an axis for bringing successive portions of the periphery thereof in position for broaching. An endless broaching chain is mounted on said base for movement in a plane extending substantially horizontally. The broaching chain has carriers thereon for broaching tools, and a reach of the broaching chain extends along the work supporting means to provide a broaching operation on the periphery of the workpiece as the tools are moved past the periphery.

    摘要: A broaching machine comprising a base and an endless broaching chain mounted on said base. A plurality of carriers are mounted at longitudinally spaced points on the chain for supporting a workpiece or broaching tools. A mounting fixture is positioned along a portion of the path of the carriers for supporting the workpiece or broaching tools. A slideway is provided along the path of the carriers adjacent the fixture and the slideway and carriers have complementary surfaces. Each of said surfaces of the slideway has longitudinally spaced cavities therein and capillary fluid passages associated therewith for supplying fluid to the cavities, the length and diameter of the capillaries and the size of the cavities being such that when a cavity is uncovered due to the absence of a carrier thereover, the fluid flows to the cavity freely and is at atmospheric pressure in the cavity. The length of each carrier is such that it covers a plurality of longitudinally spaced cavities as it is moved past the work station along said slideway and the length of the slideway is such that a plurality of cavities are uncovered at any moment of time during which a carrier is moved along said slideway. By supplying fluid to said cavities at least when a carrier is on said slideway each carrier is supported in stable, accurate frictionless relation to the slideway by fluid flow from said cavities between the complementary surfaces of said slideway and carrier.
