摘要： An apparatus for continuously cutting thin trim strips from a moving printed web so as to form uniform web products and removing the trim strips from the cutting area is provided, for in-line operation with a web press. The gapping of the web is effected by a cutting cylinder with a hollow bore, which carries at least two pairs of spaced cutting knives that act against a stationary shear blade. The space between each pair of blades connects with the cylinder bore, which in turn is connected to a low-pressure source. As a printed web is fed to the cutting cylinder, the spaced knives cut trim strips in the web and these strips are removed through the space and the cylinder bore by air flow caused by the low-pressure source. The circumferential speed of the knives acting on the web is greater than the speed of the web itself, this reducing any bubbling of the web, and the width of the space between knives is greater than the width of the trim strip. This system enables removal of trim strips down to a width in the range of 1/16".

摘要： Overlapped foil wrappers are formed by feeding a foil web (1 or 21) at uniform speed from an upper pair of rollers (2 or 22) to a lower pair of rollers (5,6 or 25,26) rotating at a uniform slower speed. A first cutter (3,4 or 23,24) between the upper and lower rollers cuts the web at intervals of the overall length of a wrapper, and such that an overlap is formed by the time the newly cut leading end of the web is engaged by the lower rollers. A second cutter below the lower rollers cuts the web downstream of the overlap to form the short wrapper piece (loose front foil). The lower roller (6) may move away from the other roller (5) while the overlap is forming, allowing the distance between upper and lower rollers to be reduced.

As the roll of core steel is cut by a moving blade, a table moves beneath the arbor at a constant speed catching each lamination as it is cut. 摘要： A system for preparing an elongated laminated strip having a plurality of layers of metal fibers with the fibers of each layer being disposed at angles to the fibers of adjacent layers, including at least two fiber cutting shredders which are mounted on a movable carriage above a conveyor belt. The movable carriage travels back and forth over a short segment of travel of the conveyor belt and the shredders are rotatably mounted on the carriage for dropping successive layers of metal fibers onto the conveyor belt with the fibers of each layer being disposed at angles to each other. At the end of travel of the carriage in each direction the shredders are rotated to different angles and the belt simultaneously moves a short increment of travel, whereby a continuous multiple layered strip of metal fibers is produced. At another work station on the belt an adhesive binder is applied to the strip so that upon leaving the belt the strip may be wound upon a reel for storage and handling.
