摘要: An apparatus for the intravascular placement of a vena cava filter includes a flexible deployment sheath and an IVUC with an ultrasonic imaging element. These two components are joined together and oriented in a substantially parallel relationship with one another with the imaging components of the IVUC extending above or in front of the upper opening of the deployment sheath. Once the apparatus is appropriately positioned within the vena cava, as determined through ultrasonic imaging, a filter and its associated delivery system are inserted through the deployment sheath to the appropriate location for deployment.

摘要: An ultrasound probe is provided for imaging and diagnosing areas of interest that are in immediate contact with the probe. The probe provides an integrated standoff comprised of a rubber material having optimal acoustic characteristics. The lens is directly applied to the transducer and the standoff is applied to the lens such that the focal zone is placed at the area immediately below the patient contact surface of the probe. The lens material also encapsulates the transducer and provides reliable protection against electrical shock. The standoff is also separated from the surface being examined by a cap comprised of a biocompatible elastomer having high chemical and abrasive resistance that enables the probe to be easily sterilized and disinfected and provides further protection against electrical shock. The use of a standoff with optimal acoustic properties in, combination with the arrangement of the lens, standoff and cap provides a probe with a focal zone placed at the area immediately below the probe. The lens, standoff and cap are spatially arranged to minimize the volume of the distal transducer section and overall probe such that the probe is easy to manipulate.

摘要: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus for observing a detectable object to be ultrasonically diagnosed. The apparatus includes an ultrasonically diagnostic probe unit for probing the object with ultrasonic waves in response to input pulse signals and with an ultrasonic echo from the object, a signal transmitting unit to generate the input pulse signals, a signal receiving unit for receiving the ultrasonic echo and processing output signals to be converted into an image of the object, and a display unit to display the image. The ultrasonically diagnostic probe unit comprises an oscillation body having a pair of piezoelectric layers, an intermediate layer sandwiched by the piezoelectric layers, an acoustic lens body operative to focus the ultrasonic waves to be emitted to and reflected by the object, and a supporting body having the oscillation body mounted thereon, thereby making it possible to provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus with a readily machinable oscillation body and to facilitate the machining and adhesive processes of the oscillation body.

摘要: An imaging system and method provides for the automatic leveling of a hologram detector system. A detector system must be precisely oriented in a proper predetermined orientation. The present invention senses the orientation of a plate to which the detector system is mounted and adjusts driver motors to maintain the detector system at a desired predetermined orientation. In an exemplary embodiment, orientation sensors form a feedback loop to a servo controller to control the position of the motors and thus maintain the detector system at the predetermined orientation. In another aspect of the invention, the patient table may be repositioned with respect to the imaging system. The patient is positioned on a table and imaging performed. If an object of interest is detected, the patient table may be independently repositioned in three orthogonal directions such that the object of interest coincides with an axis of rotation of the patient table. In this manner, the object of interest stays within a predetermined focal plane as the patient is rotated such that the object may be viewed from various angles.

摘要: An improved system and method to provide visualization of implantable leads, catheters, or other implantable devices is disclosed. According to the invention, an unmodified guiding device such as a stylet or guidewire is frictionally coupled to a vibration device. This guiding device is further inserted into the device to be visualized. When activated, the vibration device transfers longitudinal waves to the guiding device, which, in turn, transfers the waves to the device that is to be visualized. These waves are detected by an imaging device, which then generates a Doppler image of the implantable device. According to one aspect of the invention, the vibration device includes a piezoelectric actuator. According to another aspect of the invention, the frequency of the waves that are transferred by the vibration device is selectable.

摘要: An ultrasound system that has transmit and receive circuitry that, pursuant to a plurality of image settings, transmits ultrasound signals into a patient, receives echoes from a patient and outputs a signal representative of the echo. Control circuitry is provided that sequentially adjusts the image settings so as to cause the transmit and receive circuitry to have a sequence of imaging configurations during an ultrasound imaging study. A memory may be provided that stores a plurality of state diagrams, each defining a sequence of imaging configurations for a particular imaging study, which are accessible by the control circuitry, wherein the control circuitry accesses a selected state diagram to conduct an imaging study. Such a system is particularly useful for imaging studies that utilize contrast agents.
