Abstract: Disclosed are methods of delivering an agent to the lumen of the vas deferens under guidance of ultrasound imaging. The methods include vas-occlusive contraception in which the vas deferens is non-surgically isolated and an occlusive substance is percutaneously administered into the lumen of the vas deferens under ultrasound. Also disclosed are methods of reversal of vas-occlusive contraception and methods of delivering an agent to the lumen of the vas deferens. Also disclosed are compositions for use in the methods of the invention.

Abstract: An arrangement and a device including the arrangement allow nanoagents that have therapeutic or diagnostic or both therapeutic and diagnostic effects to be vaporized in a specific target area in the human body. The arrangement includes at least one primary magnetic element configured to generate a first magnetic field in a first direction, at least one secondary magnetic element configured to generate a second magnetic field substantially opposite to the first direction, at least one tertiary magnetic element configured to generate a time-varying magnetic field to excite magnetic nanoparticles located in a magnetic field-free region where the opposite first magnetic field and the second magnetic field suppress each other's effects, at least one receiving coil configured to measure the magnetization of magnetic nanoparticles, and at least one first ultrasound transducer configured to apply ultrasound energy by providing acoustic waves onto the nanoagents located in the magnetic field-free region.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically setting an elevational tilt angle of a mechanically wobbling ultrasound probe is provided. The method includes acquiring, by a mechanically wobbling ultrasound probe of an ultrasound system, an ultrasound volume of a region of interest. The method includes analyzing, by at least one processor of the ultrasound system, the ultrasound volume to identify an ultrasound image slice depicting an anatomical object of interest. The ultrasound image slice corresponds with an elevational tilt angle. The method includes setting, by the at least one processor, the mechanically wobbling ultrasound probe to the elevational tilt angle corresponding with the ultrasound image slice depicting the anatomical object of interest. The method includes acquiring, by the mechanically wobbling ultrasound probe, a two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound image at the elevational tilt angle. The method includes causing, by the at least one processor, a display system to present the 2D ultrasound image.

Abstract: To highlight-display an excrement region in an ultrasound image so as not to interfere with the user's interpretation of the ultrasound image. In an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus and a control method for the ultrasound diagnostic apparatus according to the present invention, an excrement information detection unit performs detection processing for detecting an excrement region from an ultrasound image. A highlight level determination unit determines a highlight level of the excrement region based on a determination condition for determining the highlight level of the excrement region in a case where the excrement region is detected. An excrement information display unit highlight-displays the excrement region in the ultrasound image displayed on a monitor according to the highlight level determined by the highlight level determination unit.

Abstract: To reliably specify the presence or absence of excrement from an ultrasound image. In an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus and a control method for an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus according to the present invention, an excrement information detection unit detects an excrement region from an ultrasound image, and an excrement specifying unit specifies the presence or absence of excrement based on a detection result of the excrement region. As a result, in a case where it is specified that excrement is present, an excrement information display unit highlight-displays the excrement region in the ultrasound image displayed on a monitor, and in a case where it is not specified that excrement is present within a predetermined period, a notification unit notifies a user of a message suggesting a change of an approach of an ultrasound probe during performing scanning.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes system, methods, and kits relating to creating a second structure with a plurality of first structures at a target site inside or adjacent to a host object. The methods include the step of generating a field that non-invasively penetrates into the host object. The methods further include the step of positioning a first portion of the plurality of first structures at the target site using a force corresponding to the field. Additionally, the methods include the step of linking the first portion of the plurality of first structures with one another and/or the host object at the target site to form the second structure.

Abstract: Aspects of the technology described herein relate to techniques for guiding an operator to use an ultrasound device. Thereby, operators with little or no experience operating ultrasound devices may capture medically relevant ultrasound images and/or interpret the contents of the obtained ultrasound images. For example, some of the techniques disclosed herein may be used to identify a particular anatomical view of a subject to image with an ultrasound device, guide an operator of the ultrasound device to capture an ultrasound image of the subject that contains the particular anatomical view, and/or analyze the captured ultrasound image to identify medical information about the subject.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for restoring venous valve function. In some embodiments, for example, a system includes an implantable coil and a deployment device therefor. The implantable coil has a non-coiled configuration in a first state and a coiled configuration in a second state configured to compress incompetent valves. The deployment device includes a handle, an outer sheath, a needle, and a mandrel. The handle includes a first actuator and a second actuator. The outer sheath includes a side opening proximate a distal end. The needle is operatively coupled to the first actuator. The mandrel is operatively coupled to the second actuator. The mandrel is configured to push the implantable coil through a needle tip of the needle, which allows the implantable coil to transition from the first state within the deployment device to the second state outside of the deployment device such as around a vein.

Abstract: A catheter placement system designed to establish a conductive pathway through a sterile barrier from a sterile field to a non-sterile field. The catheter placement system can include a stylet having a first connector including a piercing component, and a sensing component, and a data-receiving component having a second connector. The data-receiving component can be designed for positioning in the non-sterile field under the sterile barrier. The first connector can be designed to conductively connect to the second connector of the data-receiving component through the sterile barrier via the piercing component without compromising the sterile field.
