摘要: A banding machine applies bands about objects for packaging, decorative, or other purposes. An object is banded with tape by: grasping a starting end of a tape extending from a tape roll between a first roller and a brake, with the first roller being situated adjacent the object alongside a second roller; orbiting the object with tape roll to apply the tape to the circumference of the object; during the orbit, pressing the starting end of the tape against the object with a wiper, and releasing the tape starting end from the brake; upon the tape's orbital approach of the tape starting end, receiving the tape over the first and second rollers; extending a knife between the first and second rollers to cut the tape, thereby defining a finishing end of the tape extending about the object; and pressing the finishing end of the tape against the object with a wiper.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for stretch wrapping a load in an efficient manner so as to tightly and securely wrap the load at a desired tension without rupturing the packaging material. The method and apparatus compensate for variation in demand rate as the load is wrapped so as to apply the wrapping material to a load at a desired force, maintain the desired containment tension on the wrapping material on the load after wrapping, and prevent the wrapping material from rupturing during wrapping. The apparatus combines two systems, power assisted roller stretch (“PRS”) and roller stretch (“RS”) to vary the supply rate of the packaging material as the demand rate varies. The apparatus automatically switches between the two types of prestretch to achieve “high” and “low” wrapping force dependent upon the demand rate. Changes in the demand rate are sensed by monitoring changes in the payoff angle of the packaging material extending between the dispenser and the load.

摘要: A tape winding device having a rotating plate rotating around the circumference of a bundle of wires for a wiring harness or the like, and a driving device. A notched portion for insertion of a bundle of wires is formed in the rotating plate and the device main body, respectively, so as to extend from the outer edge to the rotating center thereof. A tape holder for holding a roll of adhesive-backed tape, and feeding and cutting devices for the tape are provided on the rotating plate. An arc-like collar is provided on the rotating plate concentrically with the rotating center thereof, and the driving device is constituted by a plurality of driving and guide rollers for sandwiching the collar. At least two pairs of the driving and guide rollers are disposed in the vicinity of each side of the notched portion. The feeding device has guide rollers supported on the rotating plate, and a feeding arm and a driving lever which are both supported on the rotating plate in a swiveling manner.

摘要: A stretch wrap packaging machine includes a support frame and a rotatable frame rotatably mounted on the support frame. A dispenser is mounted on the rotatable frame to follow an orbital path. The dispenser has a web tensioning system which is selectably operable in a plurality of states. At least one actuation ring is moveably mounted on the support frame for cooperation with the tensioning system and selectively rendering the tensioning system operable in each of the plurality of states of operation throughout the orbital path. An activator moves the actuation ring to cooperate with the tensioning system. The tensioning system may include prestretch rollers connected by an engageable clutch. The tensioning system may also include at least one power assisted roller which is connected by a clutch to a power source.

摘要: A novel apparatus and process for high speed continuous film web wrapping of uniform loads, in which a first wrap is applied in a first direction transverse to the path of the moving load and a second wrap is applied in a second direction opposite the first direction. This dual wrap nullifies the disabling effects of helical wrap bias when a single wrap is applied at high speed to a moving load, and produces a longitudinal containment force after film web recovery over time on leading and trailing ends of the load. In the apparatus two wrapping stations are provided together with a wrapping conveyor assembly which carries the film web wrapped around the load and conveyor through the two stations. Each station includes a dispensing ring on which a film roll and an elongation mechanism are mounted, a drive motor to rotate the ring and means to drive the elongation mechanism to draw film web from the roll and stretch the same beyond its yield point at ambient temperature on its path from the roll to the load and conveyor. The regulation of elongation in the elongation mechanism and the regulation of film supply speed from the elongation mechanism are independent of film demand speed at the load.

摘要: A stretch wrapping apparatus and process for wrapping and sealing random-sized loads, in which the load is surrounded with a plurality of tube forming support members which extend along the length of the load. A conveyor directly beneath the load supports the load and preferably incorporates at least one upper and one lower endless belt, rotating so that the upper surface of the upper belt and the lower surface of the lower belt are both carried in the same downstream direction at the same speed. The tube forming support members converge to the load with skids which do not support the load, and preferably have endless conveyor belts with an outer surface circulating in the same downstream direction and at the same speed as the lower dual conveyor. A stretched film web is wrapped around the tube forming support members, conveyor, and load by a film dispenser, wrapping the load as well as space in front of and behind the load. The film web wrapped around the load, tube forming support members, and conveyor resumes its memory position against the load when the ends of the tube forming support members and conveyor are encountered. A sealing mechanism collapses and seals the film web enclosures before and behind the load, to provide a sealed wrapped package.

摘要: Apparatus for handling and packaging coils of sheet material, especially steel strip, comprises a rotary capstan with arms that can project through the hollow core of a coil to support the coil. Successive operations of the packaging process are performed at a number of operating stations, at least one of which is so placed that its packaging operation is performed while a coil is so supported. The packaging may comprise an outer sheet metal wrapping applied by rotation of a wrapping arm about the coil to carry the wrapping sheet around the coil circumference. A feed table is provided to align the metal wrapping sheet initially with the coil. Two overlapping wrapping sheets making up a wrapping for a wider coil can be secured together by a welding arm that operates on the sheets as they are wrapped around the coil.
