Abstract:
A method and device for controlling the temperature of a soleplate of an iron, the method having the following steps: energizing a heater element associated with the soleplate, wherein heat energy is transferred from the heater element to the soleplate; and heating the soleplate from 60° C. to a temperature of greater than 100° C. in less than 45 seconds. A method and device for controlling an iron, the method having the following steps: setting a soleplate of the iron to a first temperature; and setting a steam boiler of the iron to a second temperature, wherein the first and second temperatures are different.
Abstract:
An output voltage of a commercial power source 1 is rectified through a diode 2, and partially dropped at a voltage drop element 19. Electric power supply to a heater 8 is controlled by a heater controller 7, which is activated in response to an output of a heater control actuator 4. A timer 5 counts time. When a predetermined period of time has passed, heater control actuator 4 causes heater controller 7 to open the power supply circuit of heater 8 so as to forcibly stop the power supply to heater 8. An output terminal of voltage drop element 19 is connected in series with at least two of heater control actuator 4, timer 5 and sensor 20.
Abstract:
A lighted bonding iron having a heating unit which defines a plane. A handle is mounted to the heating unit. First and second light sources are incorporated in the handle. The light sources project nonintersecting beams obliquely toward the plane.
Abstract:
A hot-melt carpet seaming tape having means for cooperating with a specially designed electric iron to maintain registery of the tape and iron while the heated iron is moved along and over the tape beneath the abutting edges of carpet segments to adhere the segments to the tape and together in a novel process for accomplishing the same.
Abstract:
A hand steaming device includes a housing having a reservoir adapted to contain a quantity of water, a pair of spaced apart electrodes immersed in the water in the reservoir for generating steam upon passage of electrical current between the electrodes through the water and a switch connected in circuit with the electrodes for selectively controlling the energization of the electrodes from a source of electrical power. The reservoir is provided with a fill port and a removable fill cap seals the fill port. The cap is movable between a first position wherein it seals the port and a second position wherein the port is not sealed. Control means are cooperatively associated with the switch and the fill cap and arranged such that when the fill cap is in the second position the switch is automatically opened to prevent energization of the electrodes and when the fill cap is in the first position the switch can be selectively closed to energize the electrodes or open to deenergize the electrodes as desired.
