A joint seal seals the gap symmetrical, having two limbs that extend at both sides in the peripheral direction over an angular range of 20° to 180° and having a radially outwardly directed, arcuate limb outer face. The joint seal includes a contact part that extends at both sides in the peripheral direction and projects beyond the limbs in the axial direction. The sealing ring and the joint seal are adapted to each other such that, when assembled, the joint seal rests laterally against the sealing ring via a stop and runs along the gap and covers same in the peripheral direction.

A reciprocating compressor including an oscillation-type piston mechanism is provided with a piston ring which is mounted in a piston ring groove to seal a space between a piston and a cylinder. A ring groove other than the piston ring groove is provided at an outer periphery of the piston on a side away from the piston ring groove and closer to a crank shaft. A guide ring, which is inhibited from radial movement and shaped like a skirt opened toward the crank shaft, is mounted in the ring groove. Thus, the oscillation-type reciprocating compressor is adapted to maintain long-term durability even under high-pressure compression condition and to prevent heat propagation to a large end portion.

A method for producing an elastomeric sealing article including preparing a thermoplastic elastomeric resin composition having (a) 100 parts by weight of a hydrogenated block copolymer including at least two polymeric blocks (A) of styrene, and at least one polymeric block (B) of isoprene; (b) 70 to 130 parts by weight of an ethylene-octene copolymer including ethylene in an amount of more than 50% by weight; and (c) 30 to 60 parts by weight of polypropylene. The thermoplastic elastomeric resin composition does not contain a non-aromatic softening agent, and none of components (a), (b), and (c) is cross-linked. The method also includes molding the thermoplastic elastomeric resin composition into an elastomeric sealing article.
