摘要: Provided herein is flexible retroreflective sheeting that includes an emboss layer having retroreflective elements, a backing layer and/or metallized layer in contact with the retroreflective elements, and an interleaf layer sandwiched between two adhesive layers. The tensile and color properties of the layers of the construction allow the sheeting to be particularly useful as a label for articles, e.g., traffic safety devices, subject to crushing or bending. Also provided are methods and articles including the provided sheeting.

摘要: A new technique for making cube corner elements that involves end milling is used in the fabrication of cube corner elements having non-orthogonal dihedral angles and dihedral angle errors, and arrays of such cube corner elements. A given optical face of a cube corner element may be a compound face with two constituent faces. In some cases, the constituent faces may be parallel and coplanar such that a given dihedral angle error pertains to the entire optical face, while in other cases, the two constituent faces may not be parallel, and may be associated with different dihedral angle errors.

The direction controlling optical layer and the light profile shaping optical layer may be combined into a single optical medium.

摘要: A two-layer retroreflective article construction is enabled that produces higher wide-entrance-angle performance for signs and pavement markings. A single-layer overlay is enabled for existing signs and pavement markers that improve their entrance angle performance. Materials used in the construction of an article or an overlay are transparent to radiation in the range of 400 to 1000 nanometers and utilize TIR (total internal reflection). Minimum performance specifications are proposed that extend sign sheeting retroreflectivity specifications to entrance angles of 60 degrees. An innovative traffic sign design is enabled that increases the positioning performance of safety systems and automated navigation systems.
