    摘要: An alloy is used for production of magnetic refrigeration material particles. The alloy contains La in a range of 4 to 15 atomic %, Fe in a range of 60 to 93 atomic %, Si in a range of 3.5 to 23.5 atomic % and at lease one element M selected from B and Ti in a range of 0.5 to 1.5 atomic %. The alloy includes a main phase containing Fe as a main component element and Si, and a subphase containing La as a main component element and Si. The main phase has a bcc crystal structure and an average grain diameter of 20 μm or less.

    摘要: The yield of flat powder (6) of Al, Mg or their alloy is enhanced by forming, on a rotary cooling body (4), a film (8) which can prevent the flat metal powder (8) from sticking to the cooling surface. The film (8) adheres to the cooling surface at a force which is sufficient for forming the film but which enables the film material to adhere to the flat powder which then separates from the cooling body (4). The film consists essentially of at least one liquid lower fatty acid and at least one solid higher fatty acid.

    摘要: An apparatus for cooling and processing a molten product into a granulate product which apparatus comprises a displaceable support consisting of at least one substantially horizontal, disk-shaped element arranged for rotation about a substantially vertical shaft, means for depositing the molten product on the support, cooling means containing cooling liquid channels closed in themselves that form part of the disc-shaped element and, without connection with the environment, connect to feed and discharge means, and means for removing the molten product from the support in granulate form. Preferably, a double spiral-shaped channel is present per disk-shaped element, and the means for depositing the molten product on the support comprise a dispenser adapted to dispense the molten product batchwise or dropwise.

    摘要: The extremely low temperature cold accumulating material for use in refrigerators, for example, comprises particles containing at least one kind of rare earth element selected from a group consisting of Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb. The proportion of particles each having a particle size of 0.01 to 3 mm is 70% or greater by weight with respect to the whole particles and the proportion of particles each having a shape such that the ratio of the major diameter to the minor diameter is not greater than 5 is 70% or greater by weight with respect to the whole particles. The particles are manufactured by quenching and solidifying a molten metal containing at least one kind of rear earth element described above. The thus manufacured extremely low temperature cold accumulating material is improved in cold accumulating efficiency and is specifically improved in mechanical strength and in chemical stability.

    摘要: The method for preparing metal powders with a narrow particle size distribution includes providing a disintegrator with a working chamber containing counter-rotating disks equipped with teeth designed to impart high tangential velocities to particles contacting the teeth, introducing a metal melt as a liquid stream with a composition substantially corresponding to the final metal powder composition into the working chamber of the disintegrator, counter-rotating the disks, whereby the liquid stream of metal entering the chamber is broken up into small beads, which leave the surface of the teeth with high velocities, and whereby subsequent contact of the beads with the teeth of the disks further break up the liquid beads until the bead solidifies by heat loss to the disks and collecting a fine metal powder of narrow particle size distribution at the exit end of the working chamber.

    摘要: A chill block melt spinning apparatus produces flake-type powder of the smallest magnitude by centrifugal disintegration of molten metals and alloys. Molten metal or alloy is delivered to a rotating cup which centrifugally forces the metal to exit the cup tangentially in a sheet which breaks up into streams and then into a series of droplets. Rotating chill cylinders are radially spaced from the rotating cup. The cylinders receive the streams or droplets of semi-solidified metal and provide a fresh surface for each droplet to chill the droplets, forming ultra fine flakes while deflecting the flakes downward into a collecting area. The cylinders have a concave outer surface which corresponds to the shape of the rotating cup to provide an equidistant travel path from the rotating cup to a deflection contact surface for the radially travelling droplets.

    摘要: Described are methods and apparati for the rapid solidification of molten materials into finely divided particulate form. Molten material is atomized by a centrifugal atomizer which includes a rotating member with vanes which accelerate and atomize the molten material. The mist of atomized molten material thus produced is introduced into a mist of atomized liquid coolant or a mist of finely divided volatile solid coolant or a mixture thereof. The heat of solidification of the mist of molten material is rapidly transferred to the mist of coolant whereby the molten material solidifies into fine particles.
