摘要:
A knitting method provides an easy-to-wear knitted tubular knitted fabric which gives little stretching feeling and exhibits high fitness upon wearing by joining at least three tubular parts. The method of a tubular knitted fabric using a flat knitting machine having at least a pair of front and back needle beds extending in a transverse direction and disposed opposite to each other in a cross direction, at least either of which is racked in the transverse direction so that loops can be transferred between the front and back needle beds comprises an operation of joining two tubular parts at a boundary of front and back knitted fabrics to form a tubular part is repeated; wherein the boundary is set so that the front knitted fabric and the back knitted fabrics are different in length in a knitting width direction immediately before joining for at least one tubular part; the tubular part in which the front and back knitted fabrics are different in length in the knitting width direction and the boundary to be joined is not positioned between the front and back needle beds is rotated so that the boundary is positioned between the front and back needle beds; and two adjacent tubular parts having the boundaries opposed to each other between the needle beds are joined while holding the boundary in between after the rotation.

A device for varying stitch tightness for hosiery knitting machines, particularly for circular knitting machines, which comprises a movement adjuster connected to a slider that can slide in the cam box of the machine and supports a knockover cam of the machine. The movement adjuster comprises an actuator, connected to an adjustment cam and actuatable so as to turn the adjustment cam about its own axis through preset angles. The adjustment cam has a single external active profile, two cam followers being arranged on the slider to make contact with the active profile of the adjustment cam in two spaced points and cooperate in determining a bilateral coupling with the adjustment cam.

An article of footwear with a knit upper and a method of manufacturing the footwear are disclosed. The upper is formed through a knitting process to include a plurality of sections formed of different yarns and knits to provide the sections with different physical properties. In portions of the upper where sections formed of different yarns are in adjacent wales, a tuck stitch is utilized to join the sections. The method utilizes a circular knitting machine having multiple feeds that work together to knit the upper into a unitary, seamless structure. The multiple feeds, each of which provide multiple types of yarns, produce the sections to have varying physical properties.

A neckline (8) is formed between right and left bodies in a first body (2) of a tubular knitted fabric comprising the first body (2) and a second body (3) by a flechage knitting. Widening is performed in the center of the neckline to form outer-layer-neck knitting loops and inner-layer-neck knitting loops. A first neck (5b) is formed from a whole or a part of the inner-layer-neck knitting loops in the condition that the outer-layer-neck knitting loops are held by the alternate needles on the first needle bed. Whenever a proper number of courses are knitted, the first neck is moved to overlap the loops of the first neck with the loops of the neckline so as to form loops of the next course. This step is repeatedly performed. Then, a second neck (5a) are formed from a whole or a part of the outer-layer-neck knitting loops. Whenever a proper number of courses are knitted, the second neck is overlapped with the loops of the neckline to form loops of the next course. This step is repeatedly performed. As a result of the steps being taken, a tubular knitwear (1) having the neck (3) whose inner layer neck (5b) and outer layer neck (5a) are overlapped in two layers is formed.

A method for producing stockings, particularly of the pop-sock type or the like, with a form-fitting shape, and a stocking obtained with the method comprising: a first step, during which the stocking portion that corresponds to the leg region located above the calf is formed; a second step, during which the stocking portion corresponding to the intermediate region of the leg is formed; and a third step, during which the stocking portion that corresponds to the leg region located below the calf is formed. During the second step the length of the loops of knitting located in the rear region of the stocking is increased with respect to the length of the loops of knitting located in the front region, in order to obtain, on the rear region of the stocking, an extra portion with respect to the front region; the extra portion has to contain the calf.

A method for ladderproofing the last row of a knitted item consisting in that, upon execution of the last row of the item, the interstitch portions, i.e., the portions of the thread or threads that join two contiguous loops of knitting, are produced with an increased length, forming additional loops which are alternated with the loops of the last row of knitting. Preferably, each one of the loops of the last row is knit in with a contiguous additional loop, further reinforcing the ladderproofing of the last row of the item.

A method of determining the shape of a knitting pattern for continuous knitting of a three-dimensional weft knitted object having a two-dimensional development in which at least one pair of edges to be knitted together have a large angle therebetween in excess of x.degree. where x.degree. is the maximum knittable angle between edges for the particular application of the cover. The method produces a cover having distinct sutures including a first suture formed from knitting together two edges with two sutures extending from one end of the first suture to intersect another suture extending from the other end of the first suture at a point.

A method for manufacturing hosiery items, termed "top-to-top" method, and the related modified knitting and stitching machines. The method includes the following steps: knitting a first hosiery item starting from a top down to a toe; knitting at least one row of trim at the end of the toe; knitting a second hosiery item at the end of the row of trim starting from a second toe up to a second top; separating and stitching the first and second hosiery items initially joined by the trim row by means of a specifically modified stitching machine. The stitching machine includes two independent stitching units which are fed by a common conveyor which is provided with a cutter and with diverging traction means. Top-to-top knitting can be performed with appropriately modified mechanically-programmed machines or with electronically programmed machines. The advantage of the method is that it considerably increases productivity and almost completely eliminates the waste of excess thread that occurs with current operations for stitching the toes of individually knitted hosiery items.

The present invention is directed to a thick pile sock which has heterogeneous body and foot portions. The foot portion has a heel, a toe and a base and is made out of a fiber which is an intimate blend of synthetic and natural fibers whereby the synthetic fibers enhance structure and wicking action and the natural fibers enhance absorption and resiliency. The body portion begins at least one and one-half inches above the heel of the foot portion and is made out of a fiber that is at least 60% of the intimate blend of synthetic and natural fibers of the foot portion with the balance being a heterogeneous elastic synthetic fiber. The thick pile sock can also be worn over an inner sock as part of a sock system.
