摘要： The instant invention is used in combination with a door-post surface and a motor-vehicle door latch having a pivotable latch element. It is a bolt assembly having a metal plate unitarily formed with a pair of flat coplanar flanges each formed with a mounting hole and a holding portion projecting laterally from the flanges. A mass of a durable plastic material generally covers at least the flanges of the plate and forms an outside surface engaging the door-post surface and an inside surface turned away from the door-post surface. The bolt is formed at the holding portion with a transversely open recess adapted to receive the latch element. The flanges have raised portions extending to and exposed at the outside surface for direct contact with the door-post surface but otherwise are wholly imbedded beneath the inside and outside surfaces of the mass at the flanges.

摘要： A door lock bracket for serving as a striker which secures an automobile door closed in conjunction with a door latching assembly. The door lock bracket is formed from a one-piece stamping which includes a flange portion for mounting the door lock bracket to the door post of the automobile, an apertured portion for receiving the door's latching mechanism, and a base portion interconnecting the flange and apertured portions. The door lock bracket is structurally uncomplicated, so as to facilitate the manufacture of the door lock bracket using a relatively simple multiple-step bending operation. As a result, the door lock bracket is relatively inexpensive to manufacture, yet can be formed to be strong and structurally rigid for extended and repeated use throughout the life of the automobile.

The header apparatus comprises a metal jamb piece connected to a wooden header member substantially flush therewith. The jamb member has a protruding portion which extends into a channel in the header member. The header apparatus may be used with double doors. A method of securing a door jamb is also disclosed.

摘要： An interlocking door guard securely covers and is attached to the outside of doors that open inward. It uses a full length pendulum torsion rod assembly on the hinge side of the door as well as guides in connection therewith and matching receptacles in and/or on both vertical casing members to accommodate mating sections of door guard. The forward section has an open area adequate to access door locks. This area is further protected by adjustable guard bars. Hinge lever assemblies attached to the door and guard in the forward area cause it to shift and interlock and disengage both vertical casing members when encountering stop plates on forward casing receptacles.

摘要： A strengthening device for use with a deadbolt lock and includes a planar metal anchor plate having a hole with an anchor pocket welded to the plate at the hole. The anchor plate is installed between the door jamb and the framing or door stud. The anchor pocket extends into the hole in the door jamb through which the deadbolt is insertible. When the deadbolt is installed in the door, the bolt will extend into the anchor plate. In another embodiment, a metal bolt guide is inserted from the outer side of the door jamb into the anchor pocket.

摘要： A door safety brace has an upper rod member and a lower rod member pivotally connected by an over-center self-locking hinge which holds the brace in a rigid, substantially rectilinear position when the over-center hinge is in locked position. The upper end of the brace has a curved yoke attached thereto for securing under the handle of a door to be braced and the lower end of the brace has a rubber cup for frictionally engaging the floor. The over-counter locking hinge is formed by fabricating end faces of each hinge member at an angle between 1/2.degree. and 21/2.degree. from a perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each rod member, thus providing an over-center locking hinge angled at a total angle of between 1.degree. and 5.degree. over-center when the brace is in locked position.

摘要： In accordance with illustrative embodiments of the present invention, a gate latch apparatus includes a frame having spaced side members, a ring pivotally mounted between the side members, and means to limit outward swinging of the ring. A support rigidly secured with respect to the frame has a horizontal portion and an inclined portion to aid the user in positioning a latch bar on the horizontal portion where operation of the latch is assured. The bar causes the ring to swing inwardly during closure, and the ring drops downward upon passage of the bar to latch the gate closed. To release the latch, the ring is lifted to enable the bar to be removed from the support.

摘要： An adjustable latching mechanism is provided having a fixture (12, 13) which contains a rotatable element (14) and restrains that element from movement linearly along its axis. Also provided is a member (15) which is positioned intermediate the rotatable element (14) and the connecting element (10), e.g. a latch keeper, and intermediate the fixture (13) and the connecting element (10). The intermediate member (15) translates rotational movement of the rotatable element (14) into linear movement of the connecting element (10), allowing infinitely small, non-incremental adjustment of the position of the connecting element (10) relative to the structures joined by the mechanism. The connecting element (10) is restrained against rotational movement. A sleeve-like member (47) is fitted around a portion of the fixture (12) and prevents inadvertent dislodging of a pin (30) inserted through the connecting element (10) and contained within slots (28, 29) in the fixture (12).
