摘要: An electropneumatic positioner includes a data processing control section and an electropneumatic converter. The control section includes first and second position determining sections and a signal setting section. The first position determining section obtains the valve opening degree positions of a regulating valve as the minimum and maximum valve opening degree positions which are set when a driving signal for conversion from an electrical signal into an air pressure is set to the minimum signal and the maximum signal. The second position determining section obtains the valve opening degree position of the valve which is set when the driving signal is the minimum signal on the basis of the relative positional relationship between the obtained minimum and maximum valve opening degree positions and the valve plug form of the valve. The signal setting section sets a relationship between the maximum and minimum signals of electrical signals and full opening and closing directions corresponding to valve opening degrees of the valve.

摘要: A valve positioner controls operation of a valve in a process control system. The valve positioner is coupled to a process control loop over which it receives a signal representative of a desired valve position and operating power for the positioner. The valve positioner controls a pneumatic actuator which in turn controls position of the valve. The valve positioner includes a microprocessor, associated digital circuitry and analog circuitry. Low power analog circuitry performs PID control functions. The microprocessor periodically updates at least one digital control signal used to selectively program a resistance in the analog circuitry. The combination of digital and analog circuitry allows reduced power consumption because the analog PID function consumes less power and is performed more quickly than the microprocess could perform the same function.

摘要: A pneumatic control valve of the flapper type for controlling the resultant pneumatic pressure within a chamber from two sources of pressure in proportion to an electrical control signal is disclosed, wherein two flappers, one associated with a nozzle connected with one of said sources and the other associated with a nozzle connected with the other thereof, are resiliently coupled to a common electrically actuated armature such that at least at extreme controlled pressure rates, the resilient coupling permits one flapper to close its nozzle while permitting the other to continue to control the pressure rate from the other nozzle whereby to permit reducing the flapper-nozzle gap and to enlarge the nozzle area resulting in a very high valve gain and at the same time reducing quiescent pneumatic mass flow and increasing the transient pneumatic mass flow capability through said valve.

摘要: A unitary, multiple diaphragm structure is provided which includes integral valve means and flow passages, the structure being substantially entirely composed of a flexible resilient material. Additional rigid inserts are integrally molded into the basic structure to provide additional valving and seating arrangements for desired functional adaptability. The diaphragm structure is combined with hollow housing structures comprised of stacked plates or the like for mounting the peripheral portions of the multiple diaphragms of the unitary structure. Selective porting and pressure connections in the housing structures effect a family of differential pressure responsive modules or devices such as relays, comparators, and the like. A simplified temperature to pressure transducer is provided in which a compound bimetal spring selectively retains a spherical valve in an exhaust port to provide a modulated pressure output as a function of temperature changes. The transducer and family of differential pressure responsive modules are combined to provide a plurality of parameter control systems having a wide variety of operating modes. Several of the systems are convertible from one operating mode to another by merely changing the supply pressure magnitudes. The transducer is characterized by the fact that it requires no changeover adjustment to adapt it to the multiple modes of the systems.

摘要: An electropneumatic motor includes an electrically energizable magnetic circuit with an armature resiliently suspended in the air gap defined between two opposed pole pieces of differing dimensions. One of pole pieces includes an axially adjustable member of magnetic material. A fluid nozzle is carried by the other pole piece. Axial adjustment of the pole piece member affects the strength of the magnetic field. In one embodiment, the pole piece member includes a permanent magnet, which is axially movable relative to the armature, centered in the face of the pole piece. The combination of the fixed field from the permanent magnet and the electromagnetically induced variable field helps more nearly linearize the current to armature force relationship and increases the force on the armature. To determine the operating point of the motor, the suspension for the armature can be prestressed to force it as close as possible to the nozzle, and the magnet can be advanced until the armature is pulled off of the nozzle.

摘要: An electric vacuum regulator has an enclosure containing an interior space and a solenoid assembly. An inlet port communicates the interior space to source vacuum. Vacuum communicated to the interior space is vented through a filter to atmosphere. Regulated vacuum is provided through an outlet port. A valve mechanism operated by the solenoid assembly selectively vents vacuum from the inlet port to the vent port and thereby creates regulated vacuum at the outlet port. The valve mechanism includes a valve element and a seat element. The latter has a continuous annular seat surface which circumscribes a vent path from the interior space to atmosphere that is opened and closed by the valve element, and a further surface which is disposed radially outward of the seat surface and against which the valve element also seats when closing the vent path. A groove that separates the further surface from the seat surface is vented to the interior space by through-holes in the valve element.
