Abstract: Embodiments include receiving intraoral scan data comprising a plurality of intraoral images of a dental site generated during scanning of the dental site by an intraoral scanner, a plurality of ink markings each comprising a pattern of ink having been temporarily stamped or tattooed onto a gingival surface at the dental site prior to the scanning of the dental site, wherein at least two intraoral images of the plurality of intraoral images comprise representations of one or more ink markings of the plurality of ink markings. Embodiments further include performing registration between the plurality of intraoral images based at least in part on the one or more ink markings, generating a three-dimensional (3D) model of the dental site using the plurality of intraoral images that have undergone registration, and outputting the generated 3D model to a display.

Abstract: Methods for fabricating layered appliances are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes generating a digital model of a polymeric shell including a plurality of tooth-receiving cavities shaped to receive and reposition a patient's teeth from a first arrangement toward a second arrangement. The polymeric shell can include an interior layer having a first stiffness, and an exterior layer having a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness. The exterior layer can include a discontinuity formed therein. The method can further include transmitting the digital model to a fabrication system configured to fabricate the polymeric shell based on the digital model.

Abstract: A processing device receives intraoral scan data comprising a plurality of intraoral images of a dental site generated during scanning of the dental site by an intraoral scanner, one or more ink markings or other non-rigid indicia having been applied to the dental site prior to the scanning of the dental site, wherein at least two intraoral images of the plurality of intraoral images comprise representations of the one or more ink markings or other non-rigid indica. The processing device performs registration between the plurality of intraoral images and generates a three-dimensional (3D) model of the dental site using the plurality of intraoral images that have undergone registration, the 3D model of the dental site comprising a representation of the one or more ink markings or other non-rigid indica that were applied to the dental site prior to the scanning of the dental site.

Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and apparatus for positioning a patient's mandible in response to sleep apnea status are provided herein. In one aspect, a system for monitoring and treating sleep apnea in a patient comprises one or more sensors configured to monitor the patient for symptoms associated with sleep apnea; an intraoral appliance worn by the patient, one or more processors, and memory comprising instructions executable by the one or more processors to cause the one or more processors to: receive a set of sensor data from the one or more sensors, detect, using a machine learning algorithm, onset of a sleep apnea event based on the set of sensor data, and transmit a control signal to the intraoral appliance to cause the intraoral appliance to displace a lower jaw of the patient from a first position to a second position in order to treat the sleep apnea event.
