Abstract: A method for digital treatment planning may include defining a set of contact points on a tooth of a patient's dentition and a plurality of connections between pairs of the plurality of contact points. The plurality of connections may include Hookian stiffness parameters of a dental appliance between the plurality of contact points. The method may also include generating a relaxed model of a dental appliance using the plurality of contact points and the plurality of connections. The method may also include generating a deformed model of the dental appliance using the plurality of contact points and plurality of connections. The method may also include transforming the relaxed model to the deformed model to direct the patient dentition towards a target tooth arrangement.

The method may further include compressing, into compressed 3D volumetric image data, the pre-processed static 3D volumetric image data using a video compression scheme. Abstract: A system and method for standardized teeth whiteness measurement and monitoring teeth whitening progress using a portable electronic device are disclosed. The system includes an application that assists users in aligning their teeth with an on-screen alignment guide. It further ensures standardized lighting conditions for image capture through adjustable illumination zones, adjusted according to ambient lighting and the specific characteristics of the device. Post-alignment, users have the option to manually outline a selected portion of their teeth for whiteness analysis. This manual outline aids in maintaining consistent positioning for images captured over time. The device's control processor stores these images, sends reminders for future captures, and generates playback sequences, enabling chronological tracking of teeth whitening progress. Whiteness scores for each analyzed image are calculated using a predetermined algorithm available through the device, making it easier to monitor teeth whitening progress over time without the need for regular dental visits.

Abstract: A method of obtaining crown region shape includes obtaining a three-dimensional surface shape image of an oral structure including a tooth on which tooth deletion has been performed; setting a surface edge of a tooth deletion region as a location of a region of interest; scanning a surface shape and an internal cross-section of the oral structure at a predetermined location of the oral structure, and obtaining a partial surface shape image and a partial internal cross-sectional image of the oral structure; detecting a location of a crown margin corresponding to an edge of a region where a tooth was actually deleted from the partial internal cross-sectional image; merging the location of the crown margin with a surface image of a tooth, and causing a margin of the tooth deletion region obtained from a surface shape image of the tooth to extend to the location of the crown margin.

Abstract: Method and/or apparatus embodiments for 3-D cephalometric analysis of a patient, acquires reconstructed volume image data from a computed tomographic scan of a patient's head including one or more dentition elements within the mouth of the patient, and computes one or more cephalometric parameters for the patient according to the reconstructed volume image data and the one or more dentition elements. One or more results generated from cephalometric analysis of the one or more computed cephalometric parameters can be stored, transmitted or displayed. The reconstructed volume image data is updated with 3D surface model from a subsequent optical scan of the patient's dentition and the one or more cephalometric parameters for the patient are re-computed based on the updated reconstructed volume image data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for assessing oral health and automatically providing diagnosis of one or more oral diseases. Described herein are intraoral scanning methods and apparatuses for collecting and analyzing image data and to detect and visualize features within image data that are indicative of oral diseases or conditions, such as gingival inflammation or oral cancer. These methods and apparatuses may be used for identifying and evaluating lesions, redness and inflammation in soft tissue and caries and cracks in the teeth. The methods an include training a machine learning model and using the trained machine learning model to provide a diagnosis of an oral disease or condition based on image data collected using multiple scanning modes of an intraoral scanner.
