Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for transferring an irregular stream of objects from a first conveyor to a second conveyor in such a way that the objects form a regular stream of objects on the second conveyor. The first conveyor operates at a higher conveying speed than the second conveyor and for some distance in parallel with the second conveyor. A deflection device for movable deflection of objects between the two conveyors is provided synchronized with the movement of the second conveyor. The objects being conveyed upon the first conveyor are deflected from this conveyor over to the second conveyor at various points along the above mentioned distance, depending upon how closely the objects are transported on the first conveyor.
Abstract:
A receival hopper for delicate and fragmentary particulate material such as fruit berries or bark pieces, in which the hopper (2) includes a support frame (5) with a receiving bin (3) pivotally secured to the frame (5) and an auger (4) which includes an auger screw (8), extending along a peripheral lip of the receiving bin at or adjacent the pivot, with a pair of adjacent but spaced hydraulic rams (6) secured between the bin and the support frame for moving the bin between lowered and raised positions relative to the support frame.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring separate products, such as eggs and fruit, from a feed conveyor to a packaging apparatus includes a feed conveyor provided with at least one row of product holders, a receiving conveyor provided with brushes for receiving the products discharged from the feed conveyor and a feed-through conveyor connecting to the receiving conveyor for further conveying the products to a packaging apparatus. The apparatus is provided with electrically operable discharge members disposed above the feed conveyor. The fall trajectory of the articles discharged from the feed conveyor is such that the articles end up at substantially the same landing location on the receiving conveyor, independently of the speed of travel of the feed conveyor at the moment of discharge.
Abstract:
Fruit or other objects placed on the conveyor and spun by the conveyor are properly oriented on the conveyor by the method and apparatus of the invention by ejecting one or more adjacent touching objects or ejecting objects which form stacked triplets. An optical sensor determines when there is or is not a gap between objects and relates that gap detection to the position of the objects on the conveyor. Detection of a continuous signal through a controller circuit causes a downstream solenoid to be energized according to predetermined timing. The solenoid in turn, when energized, rotates a finger which is coupled to, carried with the conveyor system and situated underneath the pocket between adjacent spools. The finger rotates upwardly and ejects the objects sitting in the pocket, thereby removing the misplaced or touching objects on the conveyor belt.
Abstract:
A roller assembly is disclosed for an agricultural conveyor apparatus including an endless conveyor supported on one or more roller assemblies mounted on a support frame. The roller assembly includes a conveyor support roller having a central bore formed therein and bearing supports formed on the roller for receiving a clamping force imparted by a pair of opposing bearings that support the roller. An axle is mountable to a frame portion of an agricultural conveyor apparatus and extends through the central bore of the roller. A clamping bearing assembly is provided for rotably securing the conveyor support roller to the axle. The bearing assembly includes a pair of bearings having radial inner portions secured for axial adjustment on the axle and radial outer portions configured to apply a clamping force on the bearing support portions of the roller.
Abstract:
Weighing and sorting apparatus for articles such as fruit or the like, and an improved weigh cup for use therewith. The weigh cups move along a predetermined path including a scale that weighs each cup and its contents. The cups are supported on the weigh scale only along a line coincident with the lateral center of gravity of the cup, allowing each weighing operation to commence as soon as that single support for the cup moves onto a weigh platform. Each cup includes a stabilizer arm to maintain the cup in an upright attitude notwithstanding the single support at the lateral center of gravity.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for conveying products, in particular fruit, including two conveyors extending as an extension of one another and having an intermediate transfer zone in which they are disposed side by side and parallel with respect to one another: a first conveyor provided with rollers (7) defining, in pairs, a housing for a product, and a second conveyor provided with conveyor receptacles (15) mounted to tilt on a support (21), each of these receptacles being adapted to be interposed between two rollers (7) in the transfer zone, in order to support the product initially housed between these rollers (7) after these rollers have been retracted.
Abstract:
An apparatus for sorting objects or articles of produce according to preselected visually ascertainable criteria. Each object is singulated and transported between adjacent pairs of plural rollers attached to a conveyor chain so as to be freely rotatable on an axis oriented normal to the conveying path. A rotation control surface along the conveying path causes rotation in the rollers and in the object supported therebetween, increasing the surface of the object accessible for optical scanning. Information obtained during scanning is utilized to unload the objects. Pivotally mounted between each pair of rollers below the object transported therebetween is an elongated discharge plate. Each object is unloaded at an appropriate discharge location by pivoting upwardly the discharge plate therebelow. Pivoting of the discharge plate is caused by the activation of a diverter arm at the discharge location. The activated diverter arm directs an orientation control surface attached to the discharge plate onto a ramp adjacent the conveying path. The apparatus involves a single sorter chain having attached thereto a plurality of three parts: rollers, discharge plates, and roller mounts. Rollers and discharge plates are supported on the roller mounts, which are in turn releasably secured to the sorter chain.
Abstract:
Off-loading conveyors having endless roller chains to which are mounted bow tie rollers on rods extending laterally from the chain. The bow tie rollers define concavities for receipt of product units to be conveyed and off-loaded at an appropriate station. Off-loading elements are mounted to the chains which include paddles extending to between the bow tie rollers. The off-loading elements include levers which cooperate with an actuation system to pivot the paddles through the concavities to remove product at appropriate stations.

Abstract:
A device for transporting banana bunches includes two substantially horizontal slides supported by a platform. The slides are formed with first and second interconnected levels of moving tracks receiving a purality of pairs of rollers. Each pair of rollers is interconnected by a cross-bar, so that each pair of rollers moves laterally and passes from the first level to the second level and visa versa. A purality of shock absorber units are anchored to each cross-bar. Arrangements for hanging the banana bunches are situated between the shock absorber units.
