Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for using an assistance information framework to perform fast carrier aggregation and dual connectivity configuration. A wireless device may provide assistance information for determining a carrier aggregation or dual connectivity configuration to a cellular base station. The assistance information may be provided while establishing a radio resource control connection. The assistance information may include either or both of carrier aggregation or dual connectivity preference information for the wireless device or service data amount information for the wireless device. The cellular base station may select a carrier aggregation or dual connectivity configuration for the wireless device based on the assistance information, and may provide configuration information for the selected configuration to the wireless device.

Abstract: Methods to enhance the coverage of NR systems for coverage-limited wireless devices are disclosed. A serving base station may configure a coverage-limited UE with parameters for the UE to operate in a coverage enhancement mode through RRC signaling, DCI, or RAR grant. The UE may use the configuration parameters to determine whether to enter into the coverage enhancement mode when connecting and communicating with the serving base station. The configuration parameters may configure the UE to exploit both time diversity and frequency diversity to extend and enhance coverage when receiving PDSCH and PDCCH channels. The UE may use the configuration parameters to receive PDSCH and PCCCH that are coverage enhanced using time repetitions and frequency hopping. Advantageously, the base station may flexibly and dynamically configure the UE with coverage enhancement parameters to extend the coverage of the UE using time diversity and frequency diversity gains as the UE moves around.

Abstract: A network, e.g. a New Radio network operating in the unlicensed spectrum, may reserve resources for the purpose of UE(s) performing a random access procedure (RACH) on the network. The network may indicate the resource reservation to the UE(s) in information transmitted to the UE(s) via signaling. The UE(s) may receive the information indicative of the resource reservation and may subsequently perform a RACH using the reserved resources indicated in the information received by the UE(s). The information or at least a portion of the information may be received in an initial signal, in a slot format indicator as part of downlink control information (DCI), in a wideband demodulation reference signal, in a radio network temporary identifier, and/or in radio resource control signaling.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes first and second subscriber identity modules (SIMs), possibly subscribed to different carriers. When the first SIM is in a connected state and the second SIM is in an idle state, the UE may need to periodically tune away a radio from a first frequency used for communication under the first SIM to a second frequency used for idle mode activity under the second SIM. The UE may provide to the network of the first SIM the second SIMs traffic activity pattern and/or serving frequency so that the network may provide coordinated configuration and/or scheduling for the UE device, e.g., in order to make the action of tuning away (and tuning back) the radio more efficient and/or to decrease the network impact of such radio tune aways (e.g., to decrease wasted uplink scheduling and wasted downlink transmissions for the first SIM).

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems to coordinate resource allocation between two UEs for sidelink communication. A receiving UE receiving sidelink communication from a transmitting UE may configure coordination resources used to coordinate sidelink communication between the two UEs. The receiving UE may receive from the transmitting UE data indicating resources reserved and intended to be used by the transmitting UE to transmit sidelink data to the receiving UE. The receiving UE may determine a coordination message used to indicate whether the resources reserved by the transmitting UE are available for use by the receiving UE to receive the sidelink data from the transmitting UE. The receiving UE may determine resources from the coordination resources to be used to carry the coordination message and may transmit the coordination message carried on the selected resources to indicate to the transmitting UE whether to use the reserved resources for the sidelink data.

Abstract: A base station (BS) comprising a processor configured to perform operations is described.
