Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) that receives a timing advance command from a network access node, sends a value indicative of a timing advance capability to the network access node, adjusts a timing advance indicated by the timing advance command based on the timing advance capability to yield an adjusted timing advance, and transmits an uplink signal to the network access node using the adjusted timing advance. Further aspects relate to a network access node that transmits a timing advance command to a user equipment (UE), receives a value indicative of a timing advance capability of the UE, and receives an uplink signal adjusted by a timing advance according to the timing advance capability of the UE. The timing advance capability may indicate that the UE has, or does not have, a capability to adjust the timing advance indicated by the timing advance command.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit an uplink trigger (ULT) message that indicates a request for a network entity to transmit a system information message including timing information for the UE. In response to the ULT message, the UE may receive the system information message indicating a timing advance (TA) command applicable to the UE. In some examples, the system information message may indicate that the TA command is applicable to a group of UEs that include the UE and one or more additional UEs. In some other examples, the system information message may indicate the TA command and a set of one or more additional TA commands, each applicable to a respective additional UE. The UE may communicate with the network entity according to a timing based on the TA command received via the system information message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Idle discontinuous reception (I-DRX) configurations may be managed on a per beam or a per subset of beams basis. The network may indicate, via system information, the I-DRX configuration for a given beam or subset of beams. A user equipment (UE) in an idle mode may receive paging occasions via the given beam in accordance with the indicated I-DRX configuration for that beam. In some examples, system information may indicate a list of beams and corresponding I-DRX configurations for each beam in the list of beams. In some examples, system information may indicate the I-DRX configuration for the beam on which the system information is transmitted. If a UE changes beams, the UE may receive system information via the new beam that indicates an I-DRX configuration for the new beam before applying the I-DRX configuration to the new beam.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive one or more messages scheduling resources allocated for one or more uplink transmissions that at least partially overlap in time with scheduled resources allocated for one or more downlink transmissions. In such cases, the UE may use different communication parameters for overlapping and non-overlapping resources. For example, the UE may receive a configuration of a first set of communication parameters that are configured for an overlapping portion of the resources and a second set of communication parameters that are configured for a non-overlapping portion of the resources. The UE may apply the first set of communication parameters and the second set of communication parameters to the uplink and downlink resources for transmitting or receiving the one or more uplink and downlink communications.

COVERAGE ADAPTATION AND IMPACT ON IDLE USER EQUIPMENT (UE)

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a network entity within a first coverage area associated with a first wireless cell. The UE may receive a system information (SI) update indication that indicates a modification of the first coverage area to a second coverage area. The SI update indication may also include one or more thresholds that the UE may use to determine whether the UE is to receive an updated SI message associated with the modification of the first coverage area to the second coverage area, or whether the UE is to skip receiving the updated SI message associated with the modification of the first coverage area to the second coverage area. The UE then determines whether to receive the updated SI message based on the one or more thresholds.
