Abstract: Embodiments disclosed relate to apparatuses, systems, and methods for improved handling of phase noise (PN) in millimeter wave (MMW or mmWave) communications in a wireless communication system, such as 5G NR. When severe phase noise is present in a communication link, the link performance can be substantially degraded. Thus, it would be desirable to utilize techniques to compensate for phase noise in mmWave communications. In Rel-15, a Phase Tracking Reference Signal (PT-RS or PTRS) was specified for both downlink and uplink communications, specifically for Cyclic Prefix-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CP-OFDM) and Discrete Fourier Transform spread Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). However, prior art approaches to PTRS using block-based pilot allocation schemes required complicated receiver processing. Thus, the techniques disclosed herein attempt to embed one or multiple bands with DFT-S-OFDM PTRS design in the data allocation bandwidth of an OFDM transmission to improve handling of PN at sub-OFDM symbol time intervals.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE), a baseband processor or other network device can operate in a new radio (NR) unlicensed network to correlate resource selection with shared spectrum channel access. The device can perform a resource selection procedures within a resource selection window (RSW) to determine a set of candidate resources, and a clear channel assessment (CCA). A resource selection of one or more resources can be performed from the set of candidate resources to enable a sidelink (SL) communication. The CCA initiates after an aperiodic traffic arrival, after a previous transmission, or after the resource selection is completed.

The wireless device may perform uplink communication with the cellular base station using the 8 transmit antenna port configuration.

Abstract: Methods and devices for a base station acting as a primary cell to perform dual spectrum sharing (DSS) with a first user equipment device (UE) over a 5G NR connection and a second UE over an LTE connection. The first UE establishes the 5G NR connection with the primary cell and one or more secondary cells. One of the secondary cells is configured in the 5G NR connection to provide downlink control information to the UE for the primary cell, to avoid collisions by the primary cell with LTE control transmissions.
