Abstract: Hydrocarbons concentrations are determined in drilling cuttings samples by generating a model for predicting hydrocarbons concentrations. Methods include dividing multiple samples removed from drilling fluid into two one set analyzed using a retort, and another set analyzed using a handheld NIR spectrometer to obtain NIR diffuse reflectance data. PLS analysis is used to correlate the retort data with the diffuse reflectance data to generate a calibration model. The model is validated with samples having unknown hydrocarbons concentration. The model is used to predict the hydrocarbons concentration for samples removed from drilling fluid taken from the rig site using the spectrometer to obtain diffuse reflectance data. During measurements, each sample contains 0.1 to 10 wt % moisture and each sample is in a clear container pressed against the spectrometer window such that the IR source from the handheld device can pass to the drilled solids sample within the clear container without opening the clear container.

Abstract: A subterranean coring assembly can include a body having at least one wall that forms a cavity, wherein the cavity has a top end and a bottom end. The subterranean coring assembly can also include a first flow regulating device movably disposed within the cavity toward the top end, where the first flow regulating device is configured to move from a first default position to a first position within the cavity based on first flow characteristics of fluid that flows into the top end of the cavity toward the bottom end of the cavity.

Abstract: A method for removing acid gas from feed gas, comprising:alternating input of feed gas between beds of adsorbent particles that comprise zeolite SSZ-98 or SSZ-105; wherein gas contacts one of the beds during an adsorption and tail gas is vented from another bed by desorption; wherein a product gas containing no greater than about 2 Mol % carbon dioxide is produced, and methane and ethane are recovered. A method for removing acid gas, wherein the product gas contains 1 wppm H2S or less. A process for removing acid gas from feed gas, comprising adjusting selectivity of an adsorbent by changing a substitution of ERI phase with LEV phase in an intergrown molecular sieve. A process for removing acid gas from a feed gas, comprising: contacting a feed gas with adsorbent comprising a molecular sieve having a defined intergrowth of an ERI phase and a LEV phase.

Abstract: A method is described for seismic amplitude analysis including receiving a seismic dataset representative of a subsurface volume of interest wherein the seismic dataset includes an angle or angle stack dimension; select a plurality of sets of sub-cubes in the seismic dataset wherein each set of sub-cubes includes a plurality of the angles or the angle stacks; compute standard score statistics for each of the plurality of sub-cubes; identify amplitude variation with angle (AVA) anomalies based on the standard score statistics for each of the set of sub-cubes; classify the AVA anomalies to generate classified AVA anomalies; and displaying, on a user interface, the classified AVA anomalies as a graphical display. The method is executed by a computer system.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to an electrocrushing drilling fluid with an electrocrushing drilling base fluid including a non-polar oil, —OH, —(OH)2, or —(OH)3 alcohol, water, and an emulsifier in proportional amounts by weight or volume in that order. The electrocrushing drilling fluid may further contain at least one additive. The electrocrushing drilling fluid may have a dielectric constant or dielectric strength of at least a set amount, an electric conductivity or viscosity less than a set amount, or a combination of these properties. The disclosure further relates to an electrocrushing drilling system containing the electrocrushing drilling fluid and an electrocrushing drill bit and a method of electrocrushing drilling.
