    Abstract: An apparatus for use in an eNB, the apparatus includes circuitry to generate an assignment of one or more interlaces to a UE within a cell managed by the eNB, where the one or more interlaces are selected from a total number of interlaces, and an interlace of the total number of interlaces may include multiple resource blocks spanning within a system bandwidth. The circuitry included in the apparatus is further to encode the assignment by a bit string including one or more bits, which may be a bitmap or an encoding bit string. The circuitry included in the apparatus is further to transmit the bit string to the UE. Other embodiments may also be described and claimed.

    Abstract: Machine-readable media, methods, apparatus and system for beam acquisition in a wireless system are disclosed.     Abstract: Devices for and methods of synchronous beam refinement using a beam refinement reference signal (BRRS) are generally described. In one example embodiment, a UE receives BRRS information indicating switching of a Tx beam. The UE then uses this information to switch an associated Rx beam. In some embodiments, timing information is used to match the switching times. In some embodiments. DCI and CSI-RS operations are used to determine switching for the synchronous beam refinement.

    Abstract: Beam determination refers to a set of procedures for an access node (AN) and a user equipment (UE) to select from among downlink communication beams and/or uplink communication beams for downlink and/or uplink communications, respectively. Often times, the downlink communication beams can include one or more downlink control channels, for example, a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and/or a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH), to provide downlink reference signals, such as channel-state information reference signals (CSI-RSs), to the UE. The AN can execute various exemplary downlink beam scheduling procedures to control the transmission of the downlink reference signals, such as the CSI-RSs to provide an example, over the downlink communication beams. In some embodiments, the UE can utilize the CSI-RSs to perform beamforming failure detection (BFD) and beamforming failure recovery (BFR) in the wireless networks.
