Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may perform a clear channel assessment on a medium to determine if the medium is available for communications with a second wireless device. Based on a successful clear channel assessment, the first wireless device may transmit a medium reservation message to the second wireless device. The second wireless device may then transmit a reservation response message to the first wireless device, where the reservation response message includes synchronization information for the first device to synchronize with the second wireless device. The synchronization information may include a duration of a channel occupancy time, a duration of a synchronous contention window, and/or a duration in which the first wireless device is to maintain synchronization with the second wireless device. Accordingly, the first wireless device and the second wireless device may communicate based on the synchronization information via the medium.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a trigger signal indicating that a base station has obtained access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may transmit, in response to the trigger signal, a trigger response signal configured to reserve a channel of the shared radio frequency spectrum band for a downlink transmission by the base station, where the trigger response signal is transmitted for a time period extending to a scheduled beginning of the downlink transmission. The UE may receive the downlink transmission after an expiration of the time period and based at least in part on the trigger signal.

Abstract: Joint aspects of coordinated multiple (CoMP) operations is discussed between multiple entities that may be in different CoMP clusters or even deployed by different operators. Participating base stations obtain channel related information such as sounding reference signals (SRS), channel state information (CSI), and the like from one or more neighbor user equipments (UE) served by a different base station. The base station determines a channel estimate at the neighbor UEs using the channel related information and selects a beamforming vector and schedules downlink transmissions to a served UE based on the channel estimates incorporating the channels of the other neighbor UEs. The selected beamforming vectors and transmission schedules minimizes the interference at the neighbor UEs.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. An eNB transmits pre-grant(s) to a UE(s) for a target resource on a contention-based carrier. In response, the UE(s) perform a CCA/eCCA and, when successful, transmit a preamble to the eNB based on the pre-grant. The eNB detects the preamble(s) and transmits grant confirmation(s) to the UE(s) for which a preamble was detected. The grant confirmation(s) may modify the pre-grant(s). The eNB may overschedule a target resource and based on the received preambles may transmit grant confirmation(s) that instruct a portion of the UEs for which a preamble was received to transmit data on a target resource and may instruct the remaining portion of the UEs for which a preamble was received to cease or modify data transmission.

Abstract: Wireless devices may exchange data related to multiple available random access procedures for network access. A random access procedure of the available random access procedures may be selected, and a random access message transmitted based on the selected random access procedure. Available random access procedures may include procedures that provide for a different number of random access messages or that are for use in communications having different transmission time intervals (TTIs). The available random access procedures may include a contention-based random access procedure, in which an initial random access message may include a payload. In some examples, a number of random access resources may be provided within different frequency resources available to provide efficient usage of a channel bandwidth.

Abstract: Resource mapping and coding schemes to handle bursty interference are disclosed that provide for spreading the modulated symbols for one or more transmission code words over more symbols in the time-frequency transmission stream. Certain aspects allow for the modulated symbols to be based on bits from more than one code word. Other aspects also provide for re-mapping code word transmission sequences for re-transmissions based on the number of re-transmissions requested by the receiver. Additional aspects provide for layered coding that uses a lower fixed-size constellation to encode/decode transmissions in a layered manner in order to achieve a larger-size constellation encoding. The layered encoding process allows the transmitter and receiver to use different coding rates for each coding layer. The layered encoding process also allows interference from neighboring cells to be canceled without knowledge of the actual constellation used to code the interfering neighboring signal.
