Abstract: An OLED incorporating a first emitting compound in its emissive layer is disclosed. The first emitting compound has the formula G1-Z, Formula I, where G1 is an electron acceptor group; and Z is an electron donor group, where Z has the formula: wherein each of R1 and R2 independently represents no substitution to the maximum allowable substitution; wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, halide, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carbonyl, carboxylic acids, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof; and wherein two or more of R1 and R2 substitutions are optionally joined or fused into a ring.

In the structure of Formula I, rings A, B, C, and D are each independently 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings; each of Z1 to Z8 is C or N; LA has at least one Ir—C bond; L is CR or N; each R1 R2, R3, and R4 is independently hydrogen or one of the preferred general substituents; and any two substituents may be joined or fused together to form a ring. Organic light emitting devices, consumer products, and formulations containing the compounds are also disclosed.

Abstract: An OLED structure including a first organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode is disclosed. The first organic layer includes a primary phosphorescent emitter and a first host, and where one of the following conditions is true: (1) the first organic layer further includes a secondary emitter; or (2) the OLED further includes a second organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the second organic layer includes a secondary emitter. The phosphorescent emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥600 nm and ≤750 nm, the secondary emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥750 nm, and the first host has a lowest excited state triplet energy T1 that is at least 0.1 eV higher than that of the primary phosphorescent emitter.
