Abstract: In one aspect, the disclosure relates to anodically coloring organic electrochromic materials as discrete chromophores. The chromophores are UV absorbing in the neutral state and upon oxidation form vibrantly absorbing, colored radical cation and dication species. In an aspect, the disclosed materials include UV absorbing discrete chromophores based on a 2-thiomethyl-dioxythiophene coupled to a triphenylamine or carbazole unit. In another aspect, consideration of steric effects and tuning substituent pattern can lead to new cation radicals that are highly saturated in the colored state and have increased color vibrancy. The chromophores and materials containing the same can be used in electrochromic color-to-clear switching devices including, but not limited to, windows, displays, signs, goggles, glasses, and the like.

Abstract: The present invention relates to indane derivatives of the formula (I) and mixtures thereof, wherein X is selected from groups of the formulae -A-NH2 or -A-(NAr2), wherein A is a chemical bond or phenylene which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1, 2, 3 or 4 substituents selected from C1-C6 alkyl and C1-C6-alkoxy; Ar is unsubstituted or substituted aryl, wherein two groups Ar bound to the same nitrogen atom may together with the nitrogen atom also form a fused ring system having 3 or more than 3 unsubstituted or substituted rings; and the variables RA, RB, Y, k, I, m, p, q and r are as defined in the claims and the description. The invention further relates to methods for preparing such compounds and their use in organic electronics, in particular as hole transport material or electron blocking material.

Abstract: An emissive layer of a top-emitting (TE) printed display comprises a combination of solution-processable nanocrystal quantum dots, thermally activated delayed fluorescent molecules, and a suitable host material along with both electron and hole charge transport materials sandwiched into a microcavity between a reflective bottom electrode and a transparent or semi-transparent top electrode. The electrodes may be reflective metals and the thickness of the emissive layers and charge transport layers may be tuned according to the required resonant wavelength along with the thickness of the top semi-transparent electrode to optimize the resonant condition and maximize the light output.
