Abstract:
An apparatus and method determines soft handover in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile communication system supporting a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) service. In the CDMA mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service, when a User Equipment (UE) moves to a region where it can receive data from a plurality of Node Bs, the UE determines by itself whether to perform soft combining on MBMS data received from the Node Bs. Therefore, even though an MBMS user moves from an existing cell to a new cell, the MBMS service is stably provided, contributing to the convenience of the user.
Abstract:
An encoding method and apparatus for a DCH (Dedicated Channel) encoder and a DSCH (Downlink Shared Channel) encoder in a transmitter for a mobile communication system including the DCH encoder for encoding k bits among 10 input TFCI (Transport Format Combination Indicator) bits and the DSCH encoder for encoding remaining (10−k) bits among the input TFCI bits. The method comprises generating, by the DCH encoder, a first coded bit stream by encoding the k input bits into 32 bits, and outputting a (3 k+1)-bit stream by puncturing the first coded bit stream according to a specific mask pattern corresponding to the k value; and generating, by the DSCH encoder, a second coded bit stream by encoding the (10−k) input bits into 32 bits, and outputting a {3*(10−k)+1}-bit stream by puncturing the second coded bit stream according to a specific mask pattern corresponding to the (10−k) value.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for indicating service variation in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. A network entity aggregates information about a first service that can be provided by a current network and information about a second service of associated another network in order to generate service variation information indicating whether at least one of a language, a subtitle, and a camera angle of the second service is changed when compared to the first service, and transmits the service variation information to a terminal in the current network over a broadcasting network or an interactive network. The terminal can determine whether to receive the second service continuously from the first service from the other network using the service variation information.
Abstract:
A method for providing soft handover in a code division multiple access mobile communication system supporting multicast multimedia broadcast service. In an asynchronous mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service, when a UE moves to a region where it can receive data from a plurality of Node Bs, soft handover is performed on the UE. Thus, even though an MBMS user moves from an existing cell to a new cell, a stable MBMS service is provided. Furthermore, the UE can soft-combine data received from a plurality of Node Bs.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an uplink random access procedure in an NB-TDD (Narrow Band Time Division Duplexing) system. To achieve an acknowledgement for data transmission from a UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network), a UE selects one of a plurality of sync codes by which the UTRAN identifies UEs that request data transmission and transmits the selected sync code in a time slot of a sub-frame to the UTRAN. Then, the UE receives the sync code information, information about the arrival time of the sync code, time update information indicating a variation in the transmission time of data, and power information indicating an adjustment to a power gain in the UE from the UTRAN on an FPACH (Fast Physical Access Channel). The UE transmits the data on a P-RACH (Physical Random Access Channel) mapped from the FPACH according to the time update information and the power information.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for generating a Short Term Key Message (STKM) for protection of a broadcast service being broadcasted to a terminal in a mobile broadcast system. The method includes transmitting, by a Broadcast Service Subscription Management (BSM) for managing subscription information, at least one key information for authentication of the broadcast service to a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) for transmitting the broadcast service, generating, by the BSD/A, a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) for deciphering of the broadcast service in the terminal and inserting the TEK into a partially created STKM, and performing, by the BSD/A, Message Authentication Code (MAC) processing on the TEK-inserted STKM using the at least one key information, thereby generating a completed STKM.
Abstract:
A method for resetting a MAC-hs (Medium Access Control-high speed) layer entity in a communication system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). When an RLC (Radio Link Control) layer entity is reset due to occurrence a protocol error, the system resets both a MAC-hs layer entity of the RLC layer entity and its counterpart RLC, thus preventing unnecessary data transmission.
Abstract:
A mobile broadcast system having a terminal is disclosed. The terminal transmits a message including a type-based identifier (ID) to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) in a corresponding network during network access. The BSM determines a type of an ID of the received message and then performs an authentication procedure according to the type of the ID.
Abstract:
A method for initiating uplink signaling proactively by the MBMS UE, comprising steps of: the UE moving to a new cell; listening to information on a MCCH; initiating an uplink signaling according to information on the MCCH; sending a response message to the UE by a RNC, or if no UE moving to the new cell, initiating the uplink signaling proactively by the UE if the information received from the MCCH includes an indication for UE counting; and sending a response message to the UE by the RNC. The UE in URA_PCH mode and IDLE mode can response to the MBMS Notification message sent by the RNC, and can initiate the Cell Update process or the RRC Connection process in order to obtain the MBMS parameters. The RNC sets different contents for the response message according to different reasons of message initiation.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for providing a service guide for a mobile broadcast (BCAST) service in a wireless communication/broadcast system supporting the BCAST service. If there is a need to provide a service guide in the mobile broadcast system, a Service Guide Subscription Source (SGSS) delivers a subscription and provisioning source, and a purchase and promotional source, to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block. The BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block then generates and provides a service guide using the sources.
