Abstract: A closure latch assembly for a motor vehicle closure system having a latch mechanism, a latch release mechanism for releasing the latch mechanism, and an outside backup release mechanism operable, in cooperating with the latch mechanism and the latch release mechanism, to provide an external latch release function and a separate and distinct latch reset function. The external latch release function is initiated by a first-key actuation operation associated with a door-mounted key release mechanism. The latch reset function is initiated, after the external latch release function, via a second key-actuated operation associated with a reset device on the closure latch assembly.

Abstract: A closure latch assembly for a motor vehicle closure panel is equipped with a common kinematic chain of components for a latch release mechanism utilizing a first range of handle travel to initiate a power release of a latch mechanism and further utilizing a second range of handle travel to initiate a mechanical release of the latch mechanism. An actuation rod may include a magnet that, when moved out of range of a sensor, signals to initiate the power release. In the event that the power release does not occur, further movement of the actuation rod forces the mechanical release. In both the power release and mechanical release, a pawl is rotated from a ratchet holding position to a ratchet release position.

Abstract: A closure latch assembly and method for cinching a closure panel from a partially closed position to a fully closed position without pinching an object between the closure panel and a structural portion of a motor vehicle are provided. The latch assembly has a latch cinch mechanism including a cinch lever operably moveable from a cinch start position to a cinch stop position to cause a cinch link to move a ratchet from a secondary striker capture position to a primary striker capture position. A power-operated cinch actuator receives a first signal to move the cinch lever from the cinch start position to the cinch stop position and receives a second signal, in response to an object detected between the closure panel and the structural portion, to stop moving the cinch lever from the cinch start position toward the cinch stop position.

Abstract: A user interface system for controlling a vehicle operation including a printed circuit board (PCB) that has a front side and a back side. A top layer that is electrically conductive defines the front side of the PCB. A plurality of indicia are etched into the top layer. An applique overlies the front side of the PCB. At least one proximity sensor is integrated into the front side of the PCB for detecting user object adjacent to the associated indicia and outputting a corresponding detection signal. The PCB further includes a base layer under the top layer. The base layer is at least partially formed of an optically transparent material. At least one light emitting device is positioned on the back side of the PCB for illuminating the indicia. A controller unit is coupled to the at least one proximity sensor and the at least one light emitting device.

Abstract: A cable-operated drive mechanism for a powered motor vehicle sliding closure panel and method of construction of the cable-operated drive mechanism is provided. The cable-operated drive mechanism includes a cable drum mechanism having a first cable drum supported for rotation about a first drum axis and a second cable drum supported for rotation about a second drum axis. A first cable winds and unwinds about the first cable drum in response to rotation of the first cable drum in opposite directions and a second cable unwinds and winds about the second cable drum in response to rotation of the second cable drum in opposite directions. A drive member is operably coupled to at least one of the first cable drum and second cable drum to drive the first and second cable drums in unison with one another.

Abstract: A power closure latch assembly with a manually actuatable release link, vehicle door therewith and method of allowing a power actuatable closure latch assembly to be converted for selective manual actuation is provided. The release link is configured to operably communicate an actuator lever with a release lever for conjoint movement therebetween, to provide power-assisted movement of a pawl between ratchet releasing and ratchet holding positions, when the release link is in a “normal” first operating position. The release link is further configured to allow the release lever to move independently from the actuator lever when the release link is in a manually deployed “override/reset” second position to provide spring-biased movement of the pawl from the ratchet releasing position back to the ratchet holding position.
