Abstract:
An off-loading conveyor of produce having utility in the discrimination and separation of watermelons includes a support structure defining a conveying path, an endless flexible element mounted on the support structure to extend and to move along the conveying path and support elements mounted to pivot from the conveying path and to move with the endless flexible element along the conveying path. The support elements are mounted to mounts which are attached to the endless flexible element. These elements are pivotally mounted to the mount and extend transversely across the conveying path of the conveyor from pivots in alternation from opposite sides of the conveying path. The support elements include elongate bodies which are pivoted adjacent one end and employ a rotatably mounted wheel adjacent the other end. The wheels define a conveying channel and are able to be lifted by cams upwardly to off load produce from either side of the conveyor.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an orientation unit for a fruit sorting and grading machine, for rolling apples around their major axes at a fixed rpm depending upon the imaging and processing speed so as to make it possible for the camera to scan the entire periphery of each apple. This orientation unit of the present invention consists of a pair of rollers, wherein each of the rollers has a conical profile on one side and a flat laminar surface on the other side to orient an apple of any shape with its major axis aligned along the axis of rotation. This set of rollers is spring loaded to make it possible for the rollers move to and fro to accommodate apples of size ranging from 60 mm to 100 mm. A rotating belt is provided underneath the rollers to rotate the fruits at a desired rpm so that a camera with an image processing system can scan the entire periphery of the fruit, including the size and shape, and surface bruises, and grade them into multiple categories in terms of quality.
Abstract:
A foldable conveyor belt used in an apparatus, such as a grape harvesting machine, whereby the belt separates different dimensions material such as grapes form the pedicles. The belt includes a series of aligned projections along a base and defining a channel pattern, each projection having a free end, the projections supporting the grapes and the pedicles to be separated. For the cleaning of grapes and pedicles the width of the channel pattern is greater than the pedicles but smaller than the grapes. The belt is then folded longitudinally and inwardly causing the projections to capture the pedicles or part extending in the channels. As the pedicles are captured the belt is inverted causing only the grapes to fall away, typically to another belt. The belt is then unfolded but is still inverted causing the now free pedicles to drop onto yet another belt. Thus the grapes and the pedicles are efficiently separated.

Abstract:
Apparatus method of treating vegetables, fruit pieces, etc by immersing them deeply in a liquid bath of inverted “j” shape (1) holding vertically arranged endless conveyor (2). Material fed by conveyor (8) drops onto perforated flight (3A) of conveyor (2) at a region where it is above liquid level (5). During subsequent descent of flight (3A), buoyant material, e.g. apple slices, tends to rise through the liquid but is forced down by following flight or paddle (3B). After rounding bottom turn (4) the material, confined by flights (3) is uplifted until it is discharged from reservoir (1) for a subsequent treatment.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for transferring products, such as fruit, onto, and supplying same to, a conveyor, for instance a roller conveyor, wherein the intermediate spaces between successive rollers, in particular hourglass-shaped rollers, form nests for a product, wherein, viewed in the conveying direction, preceding the conveyor the apparatus is provided with two flat endless conveyor belts positioned obliquely relative to a vertical plane, continuous in the conveying direction, functioning as V-channel, wherein from a well-defined location, the endless conveyor belts continue at different angles relative to the conveying direction, with the conveyor belts diverging mutually. What is advantageously accomplished with this apparatus is that also a stream of products, such as fruit, whose size can greatly vary among each other, are transferred gradually and in the proper sequential order onto, for instance, a roller conveyor. Moreover, with this apparatus, injuries to particularly fruit during transfer from the V-channel are considerably reduced.
