Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a sounding reference signal (SRS) to a base station using an SRS antenna switch (SRS-AS) or an SRS carrier switch (SRS-CS) transmission technique and the UE may feature multiple antenna groups that have separate exposure budgets due to their spatial separation. The UE may employ one or more accounting procedures for tracking energy contributions associated with the SRS across the multiple antenna groups of the UE and may employ one or more power control procedures for setting a transmit power for an uplink signal in accordance with the energy contributions associated with the SRS.

Abstract: A device may selectively listen for a tracking reference signal (TRS) during connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRx) based on whether the device is to switch between repeaters of a base station (such as during travel). A device may determine whether the device is in a high speed train (HST) scenario (such as based on a difference in frequency errors generated using a synchronization signal block (SSB) and generated using a TRS, based on a trajectory of a frequency error or a frequency error difference over time, based on instantaneous frequency errors, etc.). When the device is in a HST scenario, the device listens for a TRS during CDRx, and the device generates a frequency error using the TRS. When the device is not in a HST scenario, the device prevents listening for a TRS during CDRx (with a SSB received during CDRx to be used to generate a frequency error).

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving a beam report at a UE and a base station. The base station can configure a cDRX cycle with the UE. Also, the UE can wake up during an off period of the cDRX cycle. The UE can also compare a first metric of at least one of a plurality of candidate beams and a second metric of a current beam for communication with the base station. Additionally, the UE can transmit a beam report to the base station, during the off period, based on the comparison of the first metric of the at least one of the plurality of candidate beams and the second metric of the current beam. The UE can also select, during the off period of the cDRX cycle, the at least one of the plurality of candidate beams for communication with the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for receive chain selection at a user equipment (UE) with efficient switching between a reduced number of receive chains and an increased number of receive chains for downlink communications based on conditions at the UE. A UE may adaptively adjust the number of active receive chains based on downlink grant activity, channel conditions, network parameters, or any combinations thereof. An estimator block at the UE may determine to adjust the number of receive chains based on a number of downlink grants within one or more time periods. In some cases, grants for an amount of data that exceeds a threshold may be qualified in order to be counted at the estimation block. Further, a transient state may be provided where the UE may maintain a higher number of active receive chains until UE feedback is provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may perform beam measurements for one or more subsets of beams that are selected to provide enhanced beam switch determinations. The UE may identify one or more prioritized beams, and may measure the prioritized beams at a same periodicity as measurements of a serving beam. The UE may, additionally or alternatively, identify a set of all layer one beams (e.g., maximum-level beams or top level beams) for measurement according to a periodic interval, based on a measured mobility being less than a threshold value. The periodic interval may provide that each layer one beam may be measured at a cadence of one beam per measurement occasion, in order to provide measurement diversity.

In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station using multiple receivers and receive an indication from the base station to activate a second bandwidth part of a set of bandwidth parts configured for the UE. In response to the indication, the UE may switch from operating in a first bandwidth part to operating in the second bandwidth part and adjust a quantity of active receivers at the UE based on switching from operating in the first bandwidth part to operating in the second bandwidth part. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may adjust the quantity of active receivers at the UE based on monitoring for downlink grants from the base station.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating dual stage CSI selection for CSI feedback are disclosed herein. An example method of wireless communication at a UE includes, after detecting a CSI report triggering event, selecting a subset of CSI-RS resources from a set of CSI-RS resources configured for the UE by applying at least one of an RSRP threshold or an SINR threshold to each CSI-RS resource of the set of CSI-RS resources. The example method also includes selecting a CSI-RS resource from the subset of CSI-RS resources based on an efficiency metric associated with each of the CSI-RS resources of the subset of CSI-RS resources. The example method also includes transmitting a CSI report to a base station, the CSI report including a CQI associated with the selected CSI-RS and at least one of a PMI, an RI, or a wideband component of the PMI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that identify a minimum gap between a control channel transmission on a first component carrier (CC) that triggers a measurement report and an associated reference signal transmission on a second CC. The minimum gap may be based on a resource associated with a control channel transmission and a resource associated with the reference signal transmission. The first CC and the second CC have different numerologies and the minimum gap may be identified in terms of a number of OFDM symbols of the second CC that carries the reference signal transmission. The minimum gap also may be identified based on a location of the control channel transmission within a slot of the first CC. In cases where beam switching is used, the minimum gap may be further based at least in part on a beam switch time for performing the beam switching.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for a thin control channel structure that can be utilized to enable multiplexing of two or more data transmission formats. For example, a thin control channel may carry information that enables ongoing transmissions utilizing a first, relatively long transmission time interval (TTI) to be punctured, and during the punctured portion of the long TTI, a transmission utilizing a second, relatively short TTI may be inserted. This puncturing is enabled by virtue of a thin channel structure wherein a control channel can carry scheduling information, grants, etc., informing receiving devices of the puncturing that is occurring or will occur. Furthermore, the thin control channel can be utilized to carry other control information, not being limited to puncturing information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
