    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently determining when to transmit a beam report indicating a new beam for communicating with a base station after a current beam used for communications with the base station fails. In one example, after detecting beam failure, a user equipment (UE) may compare a quality of each candidate beam available for communicating with a base station to a beam identification threshold, and the UE may perform beam reporting based on the comparisons (e.g., refrain from transmitting a beam report if the quality of each of the candidate beams is lower than the beam identification threshold). In another example, after detecting beam failure, a UE may compare a quality of each candidate beam available for communicating with a base station to a beam detection threshold, and the UE may perform beam reporting based on the comparisons.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide efficient beam updates in beamformed communications between a transmitting device and receiving device. The transmitting device and the receiving device may establish a connection using one or more beamformed transmission beams. The devices may periodically perform beam refinement procedures or beam training procedures and may update the transmission beams used for communications based on such procedures. Signaling to indicate the updated transmission beams may be transmitted that indicates one or more of a difference or delta from a prior beamforming parameter, a beam that was used at the receiving device for one or more measurements of a reference signal from the transmitting device, or any combinations thereof.

    Abstract: An apparatus may determine a beam configuration for a data transmission that includes at least one code block in a first resource block. In certain aspects, the at least one code block may include a first set of bits and a second set of bits. In certain aspects, the beam configuration may include a first beam in a first beam direction that may be used to communicate the first set of bits of the at least one code block in a first set of symbols of the first resource block and a second beam in a second beam direction that is used to communicate the second set of bits of the at least one code block in the second set of symbols of the first resource block. The apparatus may transmit signaling that indicates the beam configuration for the data transmission in the first resource block to a UE.

The UE may receive the multi-slot downlink transmission during one or more slots according to the selected TCI state configuration and the TCI state index.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a priority rule for selecting to monitor a first beam associated with a first broadcast transmission or a second beam that differs from the first beam and is associated with a unicast transmission. The UE may use the priority rule when a scheduling conflict is identified between the first broadcast transmission and the unicast transmission. Such conflicts may include at least one of a broadcast transmission, a control resource set (CORESET) monitoring occasion of the broadcast transmission, or reference signals of the broadcast transmission at least partially overlapping with a unicast transmission, a CORESET monitoring occasion of the unicast transmission, or reference signals associated with the unicast transmission. The UE may monitor, in accordance with the priority rule, one of the first beam or the second beam based on identification of scheduling conflict.
