Abstract:
A support for a hand held phone or computing device is formed by a curved, elongated projection extending from a first end engagement with the phone or computing device to a distal end extending a distance past a portion of the perimeter edge of the phone or computing device. A curve formed on a first surface of the projection is adapted to contact the curved surface of a finger of a user placed against the perimeter edge of the phone or computing device to support it during use. The first end engagement can be formed as a permanent, rotational or removable engagement.
Abstract:
A hanging garment wrinkle remover is provided having a support member engageable with a garment. The support member is formed of a first member component in a biased removable engagement against or toward a second member component. With a garment engaged between the first and second member components gravity acting on the weight of the support member removes garment wrinkles over time. A hanger having slots to engage the support member and support the garment can also be provided.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, and articles of manufacture are disclosed that may be utilized to pre-fetch and/or obtain information for use with mobile devices based, at least in part, on a gesture of a user and/or location of a mobile device. By way of example, a method may include detecting an arrival of a mobile device at a location; and pre-fetching, in response to the detection of the arrival, information in connection with executing one or more applications and/or functions on the mobile device. In certain implementations, a method may include processing signals received from at least one sensor at a mobile device; inferring, in response to the processing the signals, a likelihood of a user executing one or more applications and/or functions on the mobile device; and pre-fetching information in connection with the executing applications and/or functions on the mobile device based, at least in part, on the likelihood.
Abstract:
An adaptive user interface device capable of implementing multiple modes of input and configuration may adapt to current user inputs, and may include configuration changes. In an aspect, an adaptive user interface device may be configured for a finger sensing in a touchpad mode, and configured for stylus sensing in a digital tablet mode. In another aspect, surface features of the adaptive user interface device may change shape, such as by raising buttons in response to entering a keyboard or keypad mode. Various mechanisms may be used for raising buttons, and may enable presenting buttons in a variety of shapes and locations on the interface. The configuration of the adaptive user interface device may depend upon the user actions and user identity. Configuration modes may be organized according to many levels enabling a single user interface to support a large number of input options functionality within a limited surface area.
Abstract:
Automatic identification of media content is at least partially based upon visually capturing a still or video image of media content being presented to a user via another device. The media content can be further refined by determining location of the user, capturing an audio portion of the media content, date and time of the capture, or profile/behavioral characteristics of the user. Identifying the media content can require (1) distinguishing a rectangular illumination the corresponds to a video display; (2) decoding a watermark presented within the displayed image/video; (3) characterizing the presentation sufficiently for determining a particular time stamp or portion of a program; and (4) determining user setting preferences for viewing the program (e.g., close captioning, aspect ratio, language). Thus identified, the media content appropriately formatted can be received for continued presentation on a user interface of the mobile device.
Abstract:
Methods, devices and systems enable prioritizing mobile device access to a communication network during periods of reduced network availability, such as during emergency situations. The mobile device may be configured to detect the existence of an emergency situation locally, on the mobile device. Upon recognizing an emergency situation the mobile device may collect information from various components and/or sensors of the mobile device. Using the collected information, the mobile device may compute a priority for accessing the communication network. Using the computed priority, the mobile device may attempt to access the communication network in a manner that staggers access attempts among all mobile devices to reduce network congestion.
Abstract:
A system and method to respond to detection of blurry regions of interest in an image are disclosed. One embodiment includes a region locator to locate one or more regions of interest in an image captured by a digital image capturing device. The embodiment also includes a blurry region detector for detecting whether a region of interest is blurry. A blurry region indicator indicates to a user when a blurry region has been detected. When a blurry region is detected, a display interface provides an enlarged image of the detected blurry region. Some embodiments provide recommendations on how to capture the scene again with improved results.
Abstract:
Various arrangements for limiting inaccuracy of dead reckoning are presented. Proximity data may be collected using a plurality of proximity sensors of a mobile device. A position of the mobile device may be determined in relation to a user using the proximity data. Whether to determine a location of the mobile device using a dead reckoning technique may be determined at least partially based on the position of the mobile device in relation to the user
Abstract:
Methods and systems implement touch sensors or force sensitive materials disposed on the case of a computing device in order to enable user input gestures to be performed on portions of the device case. The force sensitive elements may generate an electrical signal in response to a gesture, such as a tap, squeeze, swipe or twist. The properties of the generated electrical signal may be compared to various reference templates to recognize particular input gestures. The force sensitive elements may operate in conjunction with more traditional input methods, such as touch-screen display and electromechanical buttons. By enabling user input gestures on the case of computing devices, the various aspects permit one hand operation of the devices including intuitive gestures that do not require the users focused attention to accomplish. Thus the various aspects may enable users to utilize their computing devices in situations not suitable to conventional user input technologies.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for recommending a navigation destination based upon recent updates are provided. The apparatus and methods include, in one or more aspects, receiving a request from a user communication device for a desired item, and associating a user location of the user communication device with a destination location of a provider of the desired item. Further, the one or more aspects include identifying a destination communication device at the destination location, and querying the destination communication device for a human-originating response to obtain a current accessibility status of the desired item. Additionally, the one or more aspects include reporting the destination location of the provider and the current accessibility status to the user communication device.
