    摘要: A system and method are disclosed for computing a vehicle's motion in four dimensions (e.g., three spatial dimensions and time) and reliably predicting the vehicle's arrival time at a predetermined location, by providing a graphical display to an operator of the vehicle's progress that enables the operator to adjust the vehicle's movement and achieve the desired arrival time. Specifically, a system and method are disclosed for computing the movement of an aircraft in four dimensions, predicting its arrival time at a predetermined waypoint, and displaying (in a highly intuitive format) the aircraft's progress in achieving that desired arrival time. The pilot can then adjust the movement (e.g., speed) of the aircraft in accordance with the parameter(s) displayed, in order to achieve the desired arrival time. Thus, for example, numerous aircraft could be scheduled to arrive at a specific final approach waypoint at a predetermined rate (e.g., one aircraft per minute), which would enable the traffic controllers to optimize runway traffic without having to stack the aircraft in holding patterns and thereby waste fuel. Notably, although an example of an aircraft navigation and control system and method is disclosed, the system and method can be implemented for any type of vehicle (e.g., aircraft, spacecraft, ship, submarine, bus, train, automobile, etc.) whose operator desires to reach a particular location at a specified time.

    摘要: A terminal module is provided for coupling between a printed circuit board and a relatively movable component. The module includes an elongated dielectric housing defining a longitudinal axis extending between opposite ends of the housing. One opposite end of the housing has a coupling for interengagement with the relatively movable component and for allowing relative movement between the component and the printed circuit board. A slot extends axially into the housing from an open end thereof at an opposite end of the housing for embracing an edge of a printed circuit board inserted axially into the slot. A conductive terminal is mounted on the housing through an open side of the housing generally parallel to the slot. The terminal has a contact portion extending into the slot for engaging an appropriate circuit trace on the printed circuit board.

    摘要: A lever type electrical connector assembly includes a first connector having an actuating lever pivotally movably mounted thereon for movement between a preload position and a mating position. The actuating lever includes a cam groove formed therein. A latch is provided between the first connector and the actuating lever for holding the actuating lever in the preload position. A second connector includes a cam follower projection to be engaged in the cam groove of the actuating lever, whereby the connectors are mated and unmated in response to rotation of the actuating lever. A release is provided on the second connector for releasing the latch automatically as the connectors are mated to allow the actuating lever to move from the preload position to the mating position.

    摘要: Novel compositions comprising a high concentration of poly(2,6-benzothiazole) and certain polyphosphoric acids are prepared. Such compositions are optically anisotropic (liquid crystalline), capable of exhibiting excellent cohesive strength, and are especially suited to the production of high molecular weight ordered polymer fibers by dry-jet wet spinning. These liquid crystalline compositions are capable of being drawn through long air gap distances and spun at exceptionally high spin draw ratios. Fibers, films and other articles formed from these liquid crystalline compositions exhibit exceptionally high physical and heat resistant properties.

The wireless devices communicate with each other via Bluetooth wireless technology in the MANET, with an access point (AP) to provide connectivity to the Internet. A Certificate authority (CA) distributes certificates and certification revocation lists (CRLs) to the devices via the access point (AP). Each group of devices has the name of the group associated with the certificate and signed by the CA. A device that is out of the radio range of the access point may still connect to the CA to validate a certificate or download the appropriate CRL by having all the devices participate in the MANET.

    摘要: An airport lighting aid simulation system comprises a data storage unit configured to store lighting aid data relating to a plurality of airports. The lighting aid data indicates a type and a location of an airport lighting aid at a runway at each airport. The system also includes a display unit and a processing unit operatively connected to both the data storage device and the display unit. The processing unit is configured to receive an input signal indicative of a target runway, to retrieve a sub-set of the lighting aid data from the data storage unit, the sub-set being indicative of a target runway lighting aid, and to control the display unit to display a target runway description. The system enables a pilot to determine whether a visible runway is the target runway by comparing a view from an aircraft as the aircraft approaches the visible runway with the target runway description.
