Abstract: Methods of treating CMP wastewater comprising azoles are disclosed. The method includes providing the wastewater having a first azole concentration, introducing the wastewater to an inlet of a wastewater treatment system constructed and arranged to produce and introduce free radicals into the wastewater, and activating the wastewater treatment system to produce and introduce the free radicals into the wastewater in an amount sufficient to reduce the azole concentration in the wastewater and produce treated water having a second azole concentration, less than the first azole concentration. Methods of facilitating treatment of CMP wastewater comprising azoles by providing a water treatment system constructed and arranged to produce and introduce free radicals into the wastewater are disclosed.

Abstract: A gas analyzer uses continuous sonic signals through a conduit to determine the composition of a gas in the conduit. A transmitting transducer drives sonic signals at a fixed frequency and a second transducer receives the sonic signals. The phase shift between two signals corresponds to the speed of sound through the gas and is related to the composition of the gas. The electronic versions of these signals are processed by lowering, or dividing, the fixed frequency which expands the range of phase shift measurement and allows the determination of an expanded range for the gas composition. In an ozone generation system, the gas analyzer is highly suitable for determining the composition of gases derived from air as a gas of known composition and a calibration point.

Abstract: A wastewater treatment system including a contact tank, a dissolved air flotation unit, a fermentation unit, and a biological treatment unit is disclosed. A method of retrofitting a wastewater treatment system by arranging the wastewater treatment system such that floated biosolids are fermented in an anerobic environment and fluidly connecting the biological treatment unit to receive at least a portion of the fermented solids is also disclosed. The method optionally includes providing a fermentation unit and fluidly connecting the fermentation unit to a biological treatment unit. A method of treating wastewater including combining the wastewater with activated sludge, floating biosolids from the activated wastewater, fermenting the floated biosolids, and biologically treating the effluent with the fermented solids is also disclosed. A method of facilitating delivery of soluble organic carbon to a biological treatment unit is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method including directing an aqueous solution having dissolved carbon dioxide and dissolved ozone into a vessel, removing an amount of the dissolved carbon dioxide and irradiating the effluent with ultraviolet light to decompose an amount of the dissolved ozone is disclosed. The method may include removing the dissolved carbon dioxide by controlling pH. The method may include removing the dissolved carbon dioxide by contact with a membrane degasifier. A system including a channel fluidly connectable to a source of an aqueous solution having dissolved carbon dioxide and dissolved ozone, a dissolved carbon dioxide removal subsystem, and a source of ultraviolet irradiation is also disclosed. The dissolved carbon dioxide removal subsystem may include a source of a pH adjuster. The dissolved carbon dioxide removal subsystem may include a membrane degasifier.
