    摘要: A plasma display device has a plurality of first and second electrodes extended in a column direction and a plurality of third electrodes extended in a row direction crossing the first and second electrodes. The plasma display device further includes a plurality of display lines and a plurality of discharge cells, the respective display lines being defined between the first and second electrodes, the respective discharge cells being defined by the respective display lines and the respective third electrodes. In such a plasma display device, the plurality of discharge cells are initialized in a reset period, turn-on discharge cells are selected in a plurality of first display lines formed by the plurality of first electrodes and a first group of the second electrodes in a first address period, and turn-on discharge cells are selected in a plurality of second display lines formed by the plurality of first electrodes and a second group of the second electrodes in a first address period. With such a structure, when a single first electrode shares two adjacent display lines, the two display lines may be driven in a single reset period.

    摘要: In a display device, one field is divided into two groups of subfields. Light-emitting cells are selected by a selective write process in a first group of subfields and a gray scale is represented by a combination of weights of subfields. Light-emitting cells are selected by the selective write process in a first subfield of a second group of subfields, and non-light-emitting cells are selected from the light-emitting cells by a selective erase process in the remaining subfields of the second group of subfields. In the second group of subfields, a gray scale is represented by the sum of weights of subfields from when the light-emitting cell is selected in the first subfield to when the non-light-emitting cell is selected. In this manner, a gray scale of one field may be represented by a combination of the first and second groups of subfields.

    摘要: A device for driving a directly heated cathode of a cathode ray tube eliminating a delay due to inductance of a transformer. A transformer that produces the heater-heating signal voltage applied to the cathode includes a secondary coil divided into first and second coils. The voltage induced in the first coil is used for the heater-heating voltage and the signal induced in the second coil is synchronized with the voltage induced in the first coil and used as a bias voltage for turning on and off a switching element in synchronization with the heater-heating voltage. The switching element turns on only when the heater-heating signal voltage is applied to a control terminal of the switching element.
