Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wireless network, and more particularly, a method (*“and system”?*) which a mobile station discovers a neighbor network in an Internet protocol based wireless network, a network management server for enabling the method, and a method of operating the network management server. A network management server of a wireless network system, the server including: a neighborhood (NH) database maintaining configuration information with respect to at least one neighbor network; a communication interface receiving a request message for capability/configuration information of the neighbor network from a mobile station which is connected via a predetermined access point or a base station; and a database management unit extracting the capability/configuration information of the neighbor network which is included in the request message by referring to the neighborhood database, and controlling a reply message including the capability/configuration information to be transmitted to the mobile station via the communication interface.
Abstract:
A fast handoff method of an Access Router includes receiving and storing at an Access Point a Router Advertisement message periodically sent from the Access Router to which the Access Point is connected, the Access Point being connected to at least one mobile node in wireless manner and supporting services to the at least one mobile node; generating at least one Care-of Address (CoA) at the Access Point, performing Duplicate Address detection, and storing the CoAs for which the Duplicate Address detection is successfully completed; forming, when a new mobile node enters a service-available range of the Access Point, a link to the new mobile node at the Access Point, including any of the stored CoAs in the Router Advertisement message, and sending the Router Advertisement message including the stored CoA to the new mobile node; and communicating the new mobile node to a network using the CoA included in the sent Router Advertisement message.
Abstract:
A network emulation device and method in a terminal of an IEEE 802.16 communication system supporting IPv6 communications based on a Neighbor Discovery (ND) protocol are provided. The terminal includes an IPv6 module for performing an ND mechanism to search for a neighbor terminal or a router, a MAC module for communicating based on the IEE 802.16 standard, and a network emulation module provided between the IPv6 module and the MAC module for analyzing a ND message received from the IPv6 module and discarding the ND message or generating a response message for the ND message according to the message type. The network emulation module converts a broadcast ND message to a unicast message and provides the unicast message to a corresponding network device if network information needed to internally generate the response message is not collected.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing a seamless communication service in a mobile communication system. The method includes transmitting a first message to a base station when an IP subnet has been changed due to movement of the portable terminal, the first message including a Medium Access Control (MAC) address of the portable terminal, receiving IP address information from the base station, which can be used in a new IP subnet, and configuring a new IP address based on the received IP address information.
Abstract:
A network discovery method in a heterogeneous network environment. The network discovery method includes receiving neighbor information indicating neighbor PoAs from a MIIS entity at a mobile node that includes a plurality of communication interface sections capable of communicating with different networks; checking at least one neighbor PoA using the neighbor information at the mobile node; and activating a communication interface section corresponding to the checked neighbor PoA at the mobile node. Accordingly, the neighbor networks can be discovered under the heterogeneous network environment and unnecessary power consumption can be avoided.
Abstract:
A control method for a mobile terminal which connects to a router linked to an external network through at least one interface, including receiving a router advertisement message from the router through a first interface, determining whether prefix information of the received router advertisement message is identical with prefix information of a preset internet protocol (IP) configuration reuse group including the first interface, and generating an IP configuration of the first interface when the two prefix information are identical. Accordingly, at the time of a vertical handover, continuity of the A/V session can be maintained without having to use mobile IP technology.
Abstract:
A service handover control apparatus and a method using the apparatus are provided. The service handover control apparatus includes a service handover management unit collecting information associated with a transmitting terminal and a wireless access network, which operate based on an Internet Protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS), and outputting a control signal which controls service handovers of the transmitting terminal and the receiving terminal based on the collected information; and a service handover controller providing the service handover management unit with the information associated with the transmitting terminal and the receiving terminal, and controlling the service handovers of the transmitting terminal and the receiving terminal based on the control signal.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting/receiving a frame between a portable terminal and a base station in a wireless broadband Internet network are provided. More particularly, a method of transmitting/receiving frames can include activating a session between the portable terminal and the base station, removing at least one header information field included in an Internet protocol (IP) datagram after activating the session, adding a network header which sets a predetermined transport connection identifier (TCID) to the IP datagram, generating the frame, and transmitting the generated frame via the activated session. Preferably, the frame is generated in any one of the portable terminal and the base station, and transmitted to the other one of the portable terminal and the base station.
Abstract:
An access router including a module buffering first data to be transmitted to a first mobile station, and transmitting the first data to a second access router when the first mobile station moves to the second access router. Methods of processing a handover by the access router during a handover of the mobile station are also described.
Abstract:
A handoff apparatus and method in FMIPv6 for seamless TCP packet transmissions. The handoff method includes steps of intercepting by a previous access router certain TCP packets sent from a correspondent node to a previous temporary address of a mobile node; and creating a TCP ACK by the previous access router in response to the certain TCP packets and sending by the previous access router the created TCP ACK to the correspondent node every time the certain TCP packets are forwarded to a new access router through a bi-directional tunnel. The handoff method has an advantage in that the packet transmission rate can be secured at the same level as the mobile node stays still during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node since the previous access router instead of the mobile node creates and sends the TCP ACK to the correspondent node during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node.
