Abstract: The present invention discloses a compact digital TV tuner unit mounted on an analog receiver equipped with an analog tuner, comprising: a boxy chassis; a terminal face of the chassis facing the analog receiver; an antenna input terminal that is placed on the terminal face and that is connected to an external antenna wire; an antenna output terminal that is placed on the terminal face adjacent to the antenna input terminal and that is connected to the analog receiver; and a converter circuit whose circuit elements are placed on a loop line starting at the antenna input terminal and ending at the antenna output terminal in the chassis and that converts digital broadcast signals input from the antenna input terminal to analog broadcast signals to output the analog broadcast signals to the antenna output terminal.

Abstract: A solid state imaging device detects the period of energy variation of discharge type illumination, and sets a total exposure time to match the detected period. The total exposure time is divided into alternating valid and invalid exposure times by a division ratio to make the sum of the valid exposure times equal to an actual exposure time corresponding to an actual speed of an electronic shutter. Charges accumulated in a CMOS sensor during the valid exposure times are stored in a floating diffusion, whereas charges accumulated during the invalid exposure times are drained. At the end of the total exposure time, the charges stored during the valid exposure times are converted to an electrical signal which is output to a signal processing circuit. This device can correct variation of output signals which corresponds to the illumination energy variation when the shutter is operated for imaging under high luminance illumination.

Abstract: In a multi-stage cold accumulation type refrigerator including a compressor disposed at an ordinary temperature, a helium gas as a common operating fluid to be compressed by the compressor, and one or more expansion chambers and cold accumulators of different temperature levels; a cold accumulating member of the cold accumulators is formed of an alloy or compound containing a rare earth metal, so that the efficiency of the refrigerator can be improved. Further, a heat generation quantity due to sliding resistance of a seal is set to be smaller than a theoretical generated refrigeration quantity to be obtained on the assumption of isothermal expansion in the expansion chambers, so that the refrigerating capacity can be improved. The refrigerator is applied to a cooling device for cooling a superconducting magnet, SQUID, superconducting computer, infrared telescope, etc.

Abstract: A superconducting magnet which is capable of improving the refrigerating and the assembling characteristics and of composing in small size. A helium vessel 2 contains a cylindrical superconducting coil for cryogenically refrigerating it by liquid helium. A second and a first heat-shields 5 and 6 and a vacuum vessel 4 are coaxially provided so as to surround the helium vessel 2. Over the helium vessel 2, a L-letter shaped duct 50 is provided to be exposed to helium gas atmosphere being evaporated in the helium vessel 2. A refrigerator-mounting cylinder 51 has an end coupled to the L-letter shaped duct 50 through the bellows 52 and is mounted on an end surface of the vacuum vessel 4 substantially in parallel to the axial direction of the superconducting coil. A three-stage cold heat accumulation refrigerator 30 is inserted into and fixed to the refrigerator-mounting cylinder 51 for reliquefying the helium gas having been drawn into the L-letter shaped duct 50 by a third heat state 43.

Abstract: Each of three light receiving sections has a P-type well having a P+-type layer and an N-type layer formed therein. The P+-type layer is diffused from substrate surface to depth d1. A PN junction forming portion of the N-type layer is diffused from depth d1 to depth d2 which is greater than depth d1 so as to form, with the P-type well, a PN junction of a photodiode at depth d2. Depths d1 as well as depths d2 of the three light receiving sections are different from each other. The N-type layer has a charge output portion which is diffused from the PN junction to the substrate surface, and which is coupled by circuit coupling to a MOS transistor for reading out charge.
