Abstract:
The present invention encompasses an oral treatment composition containing an anti-adhesion agent, preferably a cysteine protease and most preferably ficin. In another aspect, the cysteine protease is in combination with one or more ingredients, such as antibacterial agent and surfactant. The anti-adhesion agent mitigates interaction between a subject oral cavity and plaque-forming materials.
Abstract:
A cleansing composition comprising a cleansing effective amount of surfactant and polyurethane-34. The polyurethane-34 can deposit on skin during cleansing and form a barrier that reduces bacterial attachment to skin.
Abstract:
An antibacterial composition comprising thymol and totarol. This combination provides synergistic effect against gram negative and gram positive bacteria.
Abstract:
Various examples are provided for dynamic simulation of wind velocity and pressure. In one embodiment, among others, a dynamic wind simulator includes a fan and a fast-acting damper connected to an inlet of the fan. The fast-acting damper configured to modulate airflow provided by the fan at frequencies up to 10 Hz. In another embodiment, a system includes a fan and an air outlet path of the fan connected to a testing assembly configured to support a specimen for testing. An air inlet path of the fan includes a fast-acting damper configured to modulate airflow provided by the fan to the testing assembly at frequencies up to 10 Hz. The testing assembly may include a pressure chamber and/or a test section.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to oral compositions comprising an orally-acceptable carrier and a silica abrasive comprising a precipitated amorphous silica compound having an average particle size of from 5 μm to 20 μm, oil absorption of from 60 cc/100 g to 120 cc/100 g, and an Einlehner hardness of from 4 to 11, and methods of use thereof
Abstract:
A capsule slury including at least one coacervated capsule and at least 10 wt % humectant is disclosed. The humectant may be sorbitol, glycerin, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, xylitol, erythritol and/or betaine.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a powered or manual toothbrush having a polymer battery as a power source. The polymer battery contains no heavy metals, making it environmentally safe, and contains no alkaline, making it physically safe. The polymer battery is inexpensive and rechargeable, making it an economical power source for the toothbrush. The small size of the polymer battery saves space in the toothbrush housing, enabling the housing to be smaller and saving on materials of construction. The flexible nature of the polymer battery enables it to be shaped to fit into or around the periphery of the toothbrush housing design.
Abstract:
An adjustable seat assembly for an automobile comprises a seat portion which is slidably mounted for movement between fore and aft adjusted positions within a passenger compartment of the automobile. A pair of elongated power screws under the seat portion adjust the fore and aft position of the seat assembly in response to a reversible rotary input from a universal motor. The seat portion includes a pair of internal air bladders which independently inflate and deflate to adjust the height and tilt of the seat portion. A backrest portion extends upwardly from the seat portion, and may include a pneumatic lumbar adjustment device and other contour-adjusting air bladders. The universal motor operates both the power screws and the pneumatic adjustment devices. A transmission is operatively connected to the universal motor for selectively transmitting reversible rotary input to the power screws and pressurized fluid to any one of the pneumatic adjustment devices. The transmission includes a pinion sidably disposed along the spline of the universal motor output shaft, and a pair of spur gears disposed one each on a pneumatic pump and a rotary power take-off. A shuttle forces the pinion between alternating engagement with the spur gears. Every other tooth of the pinion is relieved at its ends to facilitate running engagement without an intermediate clutch. In an alternative embodiment of the transmission, an intermediate clutch is stationed between the output shaft of the universal motor and the pinion, and the pneumatic pump is continuously engaged with the universal motor but vents to atmosphere when the clutch is engaged.
Abstract:
A two component efficacious dentifrice composition, having a first alkali metal bicarbonate containing dentifrice component and a second acid-containing dentifrice component; the first and second components being separated prior to use; wherein, the pH of the two components when combined upon application to the teeth is between about 6.0 and about 7.1; whereby, the dentifrice provides enhanced removal of plaque growth and a tingly mouth feel.
