Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for providing enhanced optical networking service and performance which are particularly advantageous in terms of low cost and use of existing infrastructure, access control techniques, and components. In the exemplary embodiment, current widespread deployment and associated low cost of Ethernet-based systems are leveraged through use of an Ethernet CSMA/CD MAC in the optical domain on a passive optical network (PON) system. Additionally, local networking services are optionally provided to the network units on the PON since each local receiver can receive signals from all other users. An improved symmetric coupler arrangement provides the foregoing functionality at low cost. The improved system architecture also allows for fiber failure protection which is readily implemented at low cost and with minimal modification.
Abstract:
A method for controlling data traffic with random early detection and window size adjustments including performing random early detection on incoming data packets, calculating a simple moving average of packet dropping probabilities for the data packets as calculated when performing random early detection, decreasing an advertised window size if the simple moving average is greater than a probability target plus a tolerance factor, increasing the advertised window size if the simple moving average is less than the probability target minus a tolerance factor, and not adjusting the window size if the simple moving average is not greater than a probability target plus a tolerance factor and not less than a probability target minus a tolerance factor.
Abstract:
This invention relates to microorganisms that convert a carbon source to acrylate or other desirable products using homoserine and 2-keto-4-hydroxybutyrate as intermediates. The invention provides genetically engineered microorganisms that carry out the conversion, as well as methods for producing acrylate by culturing the microorganisms. Also provided are microorganisms and methods for converting homoserine to 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA, 3-hydroxypropionate (3HP), poly-3-hydroxypropionate and 1,3-propanediol.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a first insulating housing having an erect base board and an erect tongue board extending forwards from a front of the base board, flat terminals molded in the first insulating housing and having a contact portion and a first soldering tail which vertically projects under the base board, a second insulating housing assembled to a right side of the base board, and spring terminals molded in the second insulating housing and having a contact arm and a second soldering tail which vertically projects under the second insulating housing. The contact portions are exposed in a front of a right side of the tongue board and arranged at regular intervals along a vertical direction. The contact arms elastically project sideward out of the right side of the tongue board and are arranged at regular intervals along the vertical direction behind the contact portions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method for transmitting feedback of channel state information and user equipment. The method comprises: under a transmission mode, user equipment (UE) determining contents carried by channel state information according to indication information, wherein the indication information comprises at least one of the following: rank indicator (RI), channel quality indication information (CQI) and configuration signaling sent by a base station eNodeB; and the UE sending the channel state information to the eNodeB. The present invention solves the problem that the contents provided by the channel state information are not suitable for those transmission modes under which a multiple user-MIMO and a single user-MIMO can be switched from one to another, improving the applicability of the channel state information.
Abstract:
A personal care composition comprising: a near-terminal branched compound according to Formula I; a cosmetically acceptable aqueous carrier; wherein the near-terminal branched compound is not comprised in a gel network.
Abstract:
A processing method and a processing apparatus for processing an output audio signal from an audio capture device. The output audio signal can be processed by a first processing module in a manner such that a preliminary signal and a first stage processed signal can be derived. The processing method includes providing power estimation signals, providing at least one cross power estimation signal, providing a leakage approximation and providing a control signal estimation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for dynamically balancing traffic loads in a communications system (such as satellite communications systems), based on a control of collision rates via the real-time control of throughput of channels of the communications system (such as a real time throughput of random access channels in a satellite network). The method and apparatus generates and transmits to remote nodes or terminals an operating probability based on the determined throughput for transmission using the communications channel. Also, the method and apparatus includes receiving by at least one terminal the generated operating probability and determining by the at least one terminal a transmission probability for the communications channel based upon the received operating probability, which can further be adjusted by one or more of a received upper or lower limit of the generated operating probability or a collision rate for the communications channel.
Abstract:
A method and system for indicating a transmission parameter are provided in the present invention. The method includes: when multi-user multi-input multi-output (MIMO) data are transmitted, using a newly-added indication signaling in a downlink control information format to indicate different joint encoded parameters when numbers of enabled transport blocks are different. Through adding new indication signaling in the present invention, different joint encoded parameters are indicated during the multi-user MIMO data transmission and the MIMO multi-user transmission based on the demodulation reference signal is supported.
Abstract:
Electronic documents are retrieved from a database and/or from a network of servers. The documents are topic modeled in accordance with a Regularized Latent Semantic Indexing approach. The Regularized Latent Semantic Indexing approach may allow an equation involving an approximation of a term-document matrix to be solved in parallel by multiple calculating units. The equation may include terms that are regularized via either l1 norm and/or via l2 norm. The Regularized Latent Semantic Indexing approach may be applied to a set, or a fixed number, of documents such that the set of documents is topic modeled. Alternatively, the Regularized Latent Semantic Indexing approach may be applied to a variable number of documents such that, over time, the variable of number of documents is topic modeled.
